How do we know that eating them really promote our health? I for one think that they do aid in keeping us healthy even if there is no real scientific evidence for it, because in my experience, if I eat this food groups I find my bowel movement to become regular, my skin glowing, and generally feel much more fit. How about you? Do you eat fruits and veggies? Do you believe it promotes our health? Why/ Why not?

No real scientific evidence for it? Are you kidding? There's literally tons of it! Ask any vegan society & they will clog your hard drive up full of "no real scientific evidence" from every corner of the scientific community - the medical profession included - as I've also pointed out in previous responses to discussions. I eat nothing but fruits, veg, grains, beans, nuts, seeds & herbs - have done so for many years already & stand as living proof that said items sustain our lives & promote, enhance & maintain our health. Living on these foods alone makes us far less susceptible to getting health problems & more capable of recovering from them much faster. Eating animal products is the world's biggest killer. Meat consumption directly kills billions. 55 Billion animals (8 times the human population), are murdered for human consumption every year, with a total loss that translates to over 150 million beings killed every single day. In addition to that are several billion fish that perish. Humans also die each day by the thousands as a direct result of animal product consumption. About 33 million people succumb to meat-related diseases annually through heart disease, cancer, etc that claim more than 90000 human lives a day. Ironically, 25000 more people die every day from hunger, sometimes right next to the very fields that grow feed for the animals that are killed to feed others! In addition, we have hundreds of thousands of people dying each year as a result of meat-caused global warming. Then there's tens of millions of others who are made homeless by climate change. Some diseases related to meat consumption & production include: Mad Cow Disease (90% of world population at risk), Swine Flu, Ebola Reston Virus. Cured Meats & fish increase leukemia risk in kids. Antibiotic resistant "super-bug" infections from a strain of Staphylococcus Aureus. Blue tongue disease. E coli. Salmonella. Bird flu. Pig's disease. Listeriosis. Shellfish poisoning. Pre-eclampsia. Campylobacter. Clostridium Difficile. These & more diseases are hidden in livestock that appear healthy. Here are some of the costs of meat eating. Eating just one serve of meat a day increases female infertility by 32%... higher if more is eaten. Over 17 million lives are lost each year from heart disease, which costs at least US$1 Trillion a year. Over a million new colon cancer patients are diagnosed each year. Over half a million a year die of it. These treatments cost the USA alone US$6.5 billion a year. Millions are diagnosed with meat-caused cancers every year. 246 million people worldwide are diagnosed with meat-related diabetes a year at a cost of $174 billion in the USA. 1.6 billion adults are overweight worldwide & 400 million more are obese. It costs the US $93 billion a year. 2.6 million people die each year from being overweight. Etc, etc, etc! Getting back to answering the original question a bit more, here are some of the benefits of a vegan diet. It lowers blood pressure substantially. It lowers cholesterol levels. It reverses atherosclerosis. It reduces heart disease risk by 80%. It prevents & reverses most cancer types. It gives us stronger immune systems. It increases our life expectancy by an average of 15 years. It increases our IQ & EQ. Etc, etc, etc.

Thanks for educating me... I'm sorry for my ignorance, though I love fruits and some vegetables but I'm a meat eater so I really don't know...and I don't think I would ever change my preference for meat...

It's just a matter of getting proof from real people really. My fiancee used to eat junk food, take aways or take outs, oily and fatty foods before I moved in with him. But when I came, it all changed and the doctor did mention that he lost weight. He lost it gradually from changing his diet. It's all because what he eats now, well what I cook for him, includes lots of fresh vegetables. He loves eating fruits as well. It's not an instant magical thing that they promise to make your skin glowing or feel fitter after a day or two of changing your diet, it's about being consistent. Changing your diet can be a bit difficult but the results will show over a period of time. I do eat veggies and fruits. The best thing about it is it helps aid in your digestion. You don't get constipation. And that is why most elderly people would say to us when we were kids, "Eat your vegetables."

Of course fruits and vegetables are healthy food. They contain lots of vitamins and they don't have fats. It is good for your digestion and skin. When your digestion is good, then you will have less possibility to have health problems. I love China

Yes, fruit and vegetables are healthy and promotes good health. Fiber, Vitamin C, D, and alot of other stuff. Fruit and vegetables even have nutrients in their skins and the white matter just used to the skin. Fruit and vegetables juice can be blended into delicious drinks. Nutritious and delicious.

I agree with you having your fruits and vegetable daily can promote a great change in your life, you become physically fit and immunity grows up, rather eating porks and other beefy materials and unhealthy diets such cause your body fitness hard to thrive and thus builds up lot of fats that are hard to be broken down, giving your body a hard time. so eat you fruits and vegetable daily and make it a habit.

I think over the past few years it has been well proven that a diet rich with veggies and fruits is very beneficial to one's health. I know if I eat more veggies and lots less meat I feel a lot better over all.
