Over the past 5 years, my husband and I have built up quite a collection of tv shows and cartoons on DVD from the 70's and 80's. We were children of the 80's and I remember many of the shows from back then, but not a whole lot of the cartoons. I do remember watching cartoons on Saturday mornings, and watching Christian shows on Sunday morning before church. Now that we're building up the collection, I'm getting to watch some shows I never knew about, or don't remember watching. I miss the shows from then, they were wholesome family shows, not like some of what is on tv today. I'm glad we have some shows on dvd, others we taped from tv and transferred over to dvd when we were able to. I can't remember a lot right now, but the first one that comes to mind is Alf. It was my first introduction to alien life, and I found it funny. Now that we've gotten several shows on dvd, I'm growing to like Too Close For Comfort, Facts of Life, Good Times, Maude, and others I'd never even known existed. The comedy shows are the best, most of them were family oriented, and it's great to watch them again. What shows do you remember from the 80's?

I use to love the after-school specials. It was about teenage love and the occasional kiss. lol OMG! I loved Chips. I still love Ponch. The Cosby Show was another of my favorites. I guess I didn't watch a lot of cartoons in the 80s....butt the 90's....my kids were growing up in these years....I can definitely tell you the cartoon I DIDN'T like. lol

CHiP's is one of my favorite shows. Never watched it back then, I never knew about it and probably wouldn't have been allowed to watch it. But I watched it years ago and really enjoy it.

Visionaries Knights of the Magical Light was one of my favorites! It was unfortunate that it only lasted a season with 13 episodes because its producer stopped producing cartoons.

I'm also a child of teh 80's. I remember Voltes V and Mazinger Z as my favorite cartoons. I also watched Mork and Mindy and Alf, two of the best comedies back then. I also loved The Cosby Show. That you reminded me, I want to start a collection of TV shows I watched in my childhood.

I am a Chinese, when I was young, I have not a lot cartoon to look. most of them are made by Japenese or our Chinese. For there were few cartoon I saw when I was young, I can remenber most of them. My most favorate cartoon is called Doraemon. It depicted a cat-like robot which from the 22nd century and sented back to 20th century by a person called Nobita to hepled the his grandfather to study. Doraemon has a fourth-dimension pocket on his abdomen from which he can take out many amazing TOOLS. I also like a cartoon called Tom and Jemmy, I know it was made in USA in 1950s, but it was imported to China in 1980s, it was also very popular among us.

I don't remember a lot of the shows from the 80s since I was a child and was mostly into cartoons. I remember my big brother and I waking up early in the morning to catch cartoons like "G.I.Joe", "Ghostbusters", "The Jetsons", "My Little Pony", and "Popeye". But I did watch some shows like "MacGyver" and "Murder, She Wrote". As a kid I thought that Richard Dean Anderson was so cool when he came up with devices and things to fight off the bad guys using regular household things. I recall an episode where he made a little bomb using a rubber glove, some household chemicals and duct tape. As for "Murder, She Wrote", I liked that one because it was a detective show. And it had a female (Angela Lansbury) as the lead.

well, i was a baby in the 80's so i don't remember. but i heard that japanese animation was pretty big here in the philippines during then, particularly voltes V, daimos and mazinger Z. when i was in high school, a tv network here re-run voltes V and daimos so i got to see those shows. they're pretty neat when you'r a kid. :)

If I remember correctly, the 80s had a ton of cartoons that started with "The Adventures of...". In this category, I remember those of Jonny Quest, Popeye, Galaxy Rangers, Sinbad, Little Koala, Little Prince... I'm sure there were more. Then it was Captain Caveman, Astro and the Spacemuts, Denver the last Dinosaur, a bunch of series with the Flintstones, the Jetstones and with Heathcliff... hm, that's all I can remember so far.
