First of all, Here is the link of the site which I came across: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/middle-east/UAE-court-says-okay-to-wife-beating/articleshow/6771422.cms UAE court says okay to wife-beating - This is the Headline What I read there is, A man can beat his wife and young children, as long as he leaves no marks on the body, UAE's highest court has ruled. Ruling in a case where a man beat up his wife and adult daughter, the court took exception to the cuts and bruises he caused. My question is, Does the same court says okay if a wife beats her husband without any marks? What do you think on this announcement from UAE court? Myself, I totally disagree and disappointed with these kinds of rules. Such rulings promote Domestic violence. I also heard that in Saudi Arabia, women are forbidden from driving and traveling without male company.

Hi raghul, I should count my blessings for living in this part of the world where women co-exist happily with the menfolks and given fair treatments. I really feel sorry for those women who are accorded unfair treatments in their countries. This is something I cannot fathom why there aren't equality among human-race. They did not ask to be born females but who would question the will of God. It is unfortunate that females are being treated second class citizens in some countries. The trouble is these women sit and listen and accept what ever treatment they thought they deserve. They submit to being beaten and tortured by their husband in line with their obedience nature. They are afraid to protest as it is unfeminine so let these thugs (since they thrive on intimidation, what else would you call them?) spout their nonsense and appeal to the worse sides of some people. If we are going to take the blame, let it be for allowing these insults to women to go on. It took a man, don't forget, to come out loud and clear and say that we must always respect women because everybody springs from a woman's womb.

"The trouble is these women sit and listen and accept what ever treatment they thought they deserve. They submit to being beaten and tortured by their husband in line with their obedience nature. By the way, nice to meet you after a year of time in Mylot, Dear Zandi! Happy Postings!

Hi Zanid, You think that the women are tolerating all these because of her obedient nature and here the Law is accepting the beats as it is a part of teaching discipline.

Hi raghul, as what we know when a person loves his or her opposite side they then are long to spend the rest of the time in their life to get along together with the partner. It's really weird that the husband there doesn't take his should have responsibility to respect, take care and protect his wife, whereas he abuses her and beats her violently instead. It's worse still to my surprise the mentioned court gives the grand authority to husbands in that region to beat their wives and adult daughters as long as they do it cleverly and no wounds and bruises caused. It's really disappointed that this undesirable inhumane and unfair privilege provided will put woman living there to much worse position I don't agree to deal with family affair with violence, no matter the husband or the wife... If both husband and wife tend to settle family affair by beating its companion there is totally no blessedness and happiness to get along anymore. It's better to get divorce. I hope the court would think maturely to cancel the inadvisable and inhumane measure and prohibit the husbands as well as the parents to beat their wives and kids respectively. I hope to see everyone living in this planet peacefully and disagree to settle whatever via violence. Take care and have a nice day

For Indian, divorce is the last choice. Women may tolerate upto a great extent for her kids. The sad part is men are taking advantage on the same. Now the recent trend is changed much and the younger generation is very fast and thinks about a divorce in the same way. I felt the Muslim rules for women are much weird. Sometime back a woman raped by her father-in-law and the religious people asked her husband to get the divorce. Here who is the culprit, what about the situation of her kids. I am not sure about the stand of her husband. I felt much bad about that lady though I came to know about her through media only.

Its very sad when a court rules that beating woman is thought to be ok. and I would suppose same goes if wife beats husband but probably not . seems like there that females are only thought of as chattle and not mate. Its very wrong to beat any one and the husband should go to jail for it. and I for one couldnt go for noet being able to drive as I did most of the driving in ot amily for years and now would be hard up for a male to go with me as hubby as passed on and I haveto drive myself where I want to go unless y daughter goes with me . THis just isnt right need to get to these times and not back inold days

Hello raghul, We can be proud that there is no such in Law in our country instead there are Laws for protecting the women and their rights. (India is a country where good Laws are there but lacks enforcement) But I have to ask some questions to you. 1. Do we respect the Law and caring women or protect them properly? 2. Do we treat them fairly and equally 3. Do we are giving justice to them. Everybody will speak loudly/sympathetically for women and their rights but on practical side they are doing lip services only. Many are getting beats from their husband. To my utter shock a man who cut her wife’s hand and he did the same on anger due to some suspects (which was his imagination). She still lives without one hand. Just imagine the cruelty of men and trauma of that young lady. Regarding the topic, I felt in Arabian countries, women as a general rule had virtually no legal status. I read that ‘women are sold into marriage by their guardians, the husband can terminate the marriage at will and women had no property or succession rights’. So this particular Law won’t be a surprise for them. In my point of view it is really a disgusting Law and should be removed with immediate effect. According to them a men can beat women for teaching the discipline. In our country discipline is teaching in childhood even though the Law is there to protect the child from beating. Do take care and have a great weekend.

Hello my friend raghul77ster Ji, I have great regards and values for Females and I totally disagree with such Land-Laews anywhere. This is greatest example of inhumanship and UNO must take corrective step to teach them. Females represnt 'Power/Shakti', One day they will unmderstand and that will be doom day for them. May God bless You and have a great time.

We are very lucky to live in the Usa. However we have serious problems with domestic violence here also. Domestic Violence is very dear to my heart. I did foster care and the children from a home with domestic violence is so damaging for the child. The women that I know and that is many will 99 percent of the time choose the man before the children and if you do not think this is right look it up. In other countries women are treated terribly. That is their culture. Should they have to live like they do and endure what they endure no. But we people in the US should look it is happening in our own country and our children are suffering.

I had reason to call a policeman several months ago because my grandson had locked himself in his mother's room and was throwing things out the window. The policeman actually told his mother and I that we could physically spank him as long as we left no marks. I was shocked that this 'peacemaker', as I have always tried to see policeman, was saying this to us. It does certainly demote domestic violence. It is either okay or it isn't. And as far as the law side of it or the person side I see big problems. How can you beat someone and know that you won't leave marks anyway? That is down right stupid!!
