Changes in Netflix

United States

This week Netflix presented a new membership that doesn't get any DVDs in the mail, but only uses their instant view feature. At the same time they raised the price on their one-DVD at a time membership. I signed up for the less expensive membership which will take effect December 15. I was more than a bit disappointed that they would raise the price of the other membership, though. Not all their selection is available on instant. I would like them to make their entire selection available on instant, of course, but I guess the instant selection is growing so I won't complain too loud. I do most of my watching on instant, anyway, so there really isn't much loss. What do you think of the new options and the price hike? I think all TV shows should be available on instant, at least. I really enjoy Netflix and the thought of not being able to afford it anymore grieves me. As a disabled person who is at least 50% bedridden, movies are an important sanity tool for me. What role do movies play in your life? Are you a Netflix member? If not, where do you get your movies from?

LOL...well, I love to watch my shows...just to pass time when I'm done with all my earning activities. Especially when my daughter is gone to work or on a youth activity. Of course, my daughter is a vid addict so she likes to watch with me. I have to shut the shows off to get her to work on school work!!!

Once they start changes their membership rules the prices always go up. I use to belong to Netflix when I was living in New Mexico. At the time it costs me only $8.60 a month for one movie at a time by mail. Now that I live in Puerto Rico they don't have netflix here so I rent my movies 3 for $5.35 that is including the tax. So its about $1.78 per movie which is good I think. Its better then spending $10.00 at the theater for one movie. For that same amount I can see 6 movies.

I'm sorry you don't have Netflix where you live. Perhaps with the new instant only membership you could join now as there would be nothing to have to go through the mail. Their instant selection is really very good and all you need is high speed internet.
