I actually do not use so many products from China personally (even though I do have some), so I think I would be okay on a personal level, but you are completely right that the world depends on Chinese products a lot, so I think a lot of other people would have problems with this!

I actually try to not buy products from China. I try to buy products made in my own country... Canada. This is important to drive our own economy. ALso I know that the workers are way more likely to be treated fairly in Canada than China. I think it would be a really good thing if all the proucts made cheap in china disapeared overnight.

If all of the products made cheap in China disappeared overnight, all the people around the world would have to pay much more for the products they have used to buy cheaper. Would you be willing to spend 30 dollars for a T-shirt, instead of 3 dollars? Or, another chance, the people in Canada should agree to work for a salary of 100 dollars a month. If you are really willing this, it's an admirable patriotism. I also love my country and I wish our export and manufacturing to develop, but unfortunately I'm not ready to pay so huge price for my love.

Earl123456, Somehow, I think you need to remember that no one is indispensable and the earth will not stop spinning if all of a sudden China no longer produces. You can be assured of it! If I may dare add, that day may eventually arrive and China will be overwhelmed. All it takes is another repeat of the current economic crisis generated by China instead of our western counterparts and the country will bring about another worldwide calamity. So, don't be so reassuring here. Even if that scale of devastation does not happen, then let me assure you that India or South Africa even, may emerge to be another world producer to be reckon with. What's stopping them......especially when labor will be unrecognizably cheap! So, being powerful does come with a lot of heavy and considerable responsibilities. Take care and give this a little thought.

Yes, I agree with you. I do not think that China will be world leading in this field forever, because no country ever has managed to be. So I do think another country will take over at some point. But it is hard to say which country that will be and when it will happen, I think.

Life would be different as most of the things we use in everyday life is made in china, like cars, the computer, anything from a mobile phone to the tv set, and even my shoes.

At the beginning there will appear a huge decrease of welfare around the world, but then people in Europe and USA will be eventually forced to begin to produce something. And, no doubt, for salaries equal to the salaries in China.

I think somebody will take her place, countries with large potentials like India that can much the low price because labor is cheaper compared to other countries. Another scenario would be, former leaders like Japan, the U.K., U.S., and Germany will stage a comeback, quality products but this time I think they will try to outdo each other in terms of price, because the world has been so used to the cheaper Chinese products.

If they disappear, they would just disappear... I'm sure a lot of my things will disappear but I would still have the things i really need left.

i think there will be a huge demand of products. there are too many Chinese products that are really needed in daily life maybe not to all, but mostly to the ones in tight budget.
