I don't get some people.

My husband just came home from working for the moving company and told me about what some people at the company were doing while on the job. I really don't understand how these people can continue working for this company, it's ridiculous. One guy today stole a video game from a customer, and was caught doing so and had to return it. Another one got drunk on the job, was drinking a customer's alcohol, and had to pay the customer back with his paycheque. The sad thing is, the guys who broke our furniture during our move, they're still working there. The company owners are young guys, but they really need to get their act together and get the bad employees out of the company. My husband rarely gets any hours, and with us in a major slump right now, not having even the rent for next month, he needs the hours. Moreso, he needs a permanent job, which he doesn't have. Hopefully things get better at the moving company, maybe he'll get some work again tomorrow.

So sorry to hear of your husbands lack of hours at work are causing such a disruption in your life. As I so know how this is as I was such a hard working person and ended up with out a job myself early this year. Many times I cannot get over how irresponsible people maintain the fruitful hours at a job when you have so many in need of work. Good luck to you both and hope things pick up soon.

I think that some people, just think that they can get away with anything they want to, and they dont care about other people's feelings or property.

When I moved, we packed all my stuff at home, and moved them in our own trucks. We only hired a moving company for my furniture, and we followed them around like hawks. When someone's going to be touching my stuff, I am going to watch the person closely to make sure nothing happens. My husband told me that in the United States when a company packs up your stuff for you, they take inventory of each box, and write it down. That's what a reputable company should do. If I caught someone stealing from me, I would complain to the company and keep complaining until they fired the idiot.

The customer should complain more, but I don't think they will. The problem with the damage to our stuff, it was done in the truck during the drive to our home. The driver didn't know how to drive standard, kept stalling out, and really bounced everything around. We replaced some items on our own, for free thankfully, but the moving company had offered us some stuff to replace it. We never took anything from them, we don't have room for it anymore.

Hi Kris, Those guys should have been fired on the spot. It amazes me that some companies hold on to employees like that when there are so many out there looking for work. I don't really understand it as it is so bad for their business. I hope your husband will find decent and steady work soon. Good luck, Kris.

hi kris 182 I can really sympathize as here in California the economy is still bad and my adult son is again out of work. I can believe almost anything about some men who wo rk for mo ving companies. we had two men toss our furniture over the railing from our apartment balcony to the men below. the idiots dropped my bureau and broke the slats in the back then tried to claim they were already broken. Not so at all. we finally got the moving comapamy to pay us damages on that one.Yes some men in the moving comp anies do get away with an awful lot. we had one moving company though that really had their act together and it was a pleasure to see how well they moved things, and how careful they were too. I hope your husband can get some more hours. my sons part time job was whittled down to one day a week so its back to looking for work again for him, he hates that but he has to do it.

This is so bad. That kind of company, your husband doesn't need to suffer there! And the 2 young guys are running the company, that prompts me to think whether they've received any kind of business training? They should run a kind of policy, as to review all workers' performance and kick those lazy bums out, so as not to ruin the company's reputation.

I hope your husband is able to get more work soon. Maybe if there are other moving companies in the area he can look to see if they need more workers. I have noticed that the young and less caring are keeping jobs where as the hard workers that are devoted to the job are loosing to these people. Is it because of the cut back in wages that they need to hire new workers at lower rates? I don't know, I just know that many people with many qualifications are not working and becoming more frustrated/stressed of not being able to find work.

You should report those straight to the office. If you already did, that moving company is the dumbest company there is. They know full well that their company won't have a good name if those slack-offs stay in the company.

Sounds to me like its a bunch of young guys playing business owner/worker. I would tell your husband to stick it out just until he gets a stable position elsewhere because the rep that his current place of employment seems to have may very well follow him until he rids himself of that company.
