Do you enjoy holiday shopping or does it stress you out?

I feel like I am somewhere in between. When it's super crowded and crazy, I just can't seem to handle it and it doesn't end up being a very productive event. What about you? I love buying gifts for people, at least the concept, BUT I have a hard time dealing with the frenzied shopping excursions and sales... What about you??

I enjoy buying presents for the children that are in my family. I have a teenage son, a disabled toddler son and a baby daughter. I have two nephews and two nieces. I find it challenging to get presents for the adults in my life. My mom is poor at accepting much. All she wants is a calendar and she will be getting a handbag as well. Really she means so very much to me that I would like to get her way more than that. I did some Christmas shopping in October and I didn't do much of of it in November. I have a few more presents to buy and I don't like how crowded the shops are getting. I push my child or children in a buggy. If my disabled son is at nursery school I still have my baby daughter with me when I am out shopping. When I go off traveling to a different country I love going shopping for some postcards and costume doll for my collection that I have back at home. That is what would call holiday or vacation shopping. That is very different to the busy Christmas shopping that is going on in my home country right now. In January that valued added tax will go up to 20% and then the sales will happen. These are just in time for my oldest nephews birthday which is on 24th January.

I don't enjoy it at all. And it also stresses me out. But... I've sort of learned a trick when it comes to Christmas shopping. I just buy at Wal-Mart. And as you may (already) know, Wal-Mart is only a couple of blocks away from my house, and is open 24 hours during the holidays. So, hopefully I don't get too stressed when I finally go on Christmas shopping the week of the 20th.

The weird part is that most Wal-Marts over here are not open 24 hours, and weren't last year. They are this year, just for the holidays (maybe even just Black Friday, I couldn't tell ya, haven't been there in months) - probably just as a safety thing, considering so many people got trampled and hurt in years previous. I just hate Wal-Mart though. I mean, I know they have good deals... But they are always understaffed. There are always screaming babies and ghetto chicks cussin' at their kids. OK, OK, I do live in the ghetto, but still..Why go to Wal-Mart when there's a more-expensive but more-tolerable Target just about a mile away in the other direction? LOL.. Ok, I'm done ranting. Merry Christmas to you!! lol

I actually know what you mean. I also prefer Target. It just so happens that I live a couple of blocks away from Wal-Mart, so I'm just always there for a quick shop.

I don't enjoy crowded places, never! So if shopping is done in crowded malls then I'd rather just go home. But I do love shopping a lot so I do it in places where I could enjoy it more. I never go to the malls during midnight sales and things of that sort because I am sure that will most likely just spoil my day.

I actually enjoy it this year and you know why? I drive my daughter to the Mall, or whatever, and then I drive around the parking lot while she goes inside. We did all our main shopping done in one afternoon. My daughter was alittle tired but she is nearly twenty years younger than I am.

I do not enjoy holiday shopping. I hate shopping period! I think too many people go over board shopping this time of the year! So many people also get into debt or even deeper in debt! I think that is crazy! Christmas has gotan so over commericalized that people buy inot it so easily! I don't and I wish there was no Christmas! I have become to hate this holiday! Not just the over commerialization but everything else! Ba Humbug!

I myself find it very stressful. I anticipate going in and finding gifts for people, but when I get there, there are so many people and everything is so loud that I end up only getting a few things and going home.

It doesn't really bother me. I'm not worried about it. I just want to get it done before the last minute. I don't mind shopping online to avoid the stores. I don't worry about what to get people. I just try to get them something that can be useful even if it is a giftcard of some sort.

I get stressed but just because I know when I do buy something I will always find a better deal for it somewhere else. Also, I am never too sure what people want or if I am getting a good gift. I don't mind the crowds too much!

Christmas memories - Christmas 2009
Well that all depends on when I do my holiday shopping, lol. If like last year I am shopping the day before Christmas Eve, no I do not like holiday shopping. Luckily this year I have done all my shopping early so now I can be stress free these days and not have to go anywhere. It is just so stressful to go out in the crowds and fight to get into stores or find a parking space it is murder out there. I would much rather be inside nice and warm drinking a cup of my delicious hot cocoa at home.

Hi! Yeah Christmas rush is definitely in. The malls are crowded with people buying gifts and stuffs. I still have a few things to buy and I only have a few more days to go. What's really cool for me is wrapping the gifts I bought for my loved ones. I think that's worth it all.

I hyave done all of the christmas shopping, so i do not have to get stressed out over that.I have paid cash for all the things that i have got, even though i know that there are a few people that have not been prepared for christmas and are now panicking and getting loans and putting things on credit cards.I get bits during the year for christmas as well as a savings thing that i am in, so i do not have to worry when it get here.I get all the things i need earleir in the year so i do not have to dash any where at the last minuite to get things. This way i can sit back and enjoy christmas.

Oh my goodness it stresses me out. I want to find something that my friends will actually like and not waste my money on something that will just stay in their closets for eternity. Also, I'm not rich so the financial strain is stressful as well. The only part of the holidays gifting that doesn't stress me out is donating to charities. It makes me feel good and like I am not giving in to the commercialism of the season.

I'm the same as you. I enjoy buying things for others and like to browse shops, but when it gets so crowded and busy like at Christmas, I don't enjoy it at all. I do a lot of shopping online just because of that.

I agree with you. I can't stand the long lines, the difficulty in getting someone to help you in the store, the merchandise that flies off the shelf before you can buy it, etc. What I do love about holiday shopping are the great bargains ... when you can find them. I used to go shopping after the holidays when everything was 50-90% off. But, this year I was able to find a couple of good deals online and in the store on Thanksgiving Day. But, again, I did not put myself in the position to be part of the mobs by going shopping on Black Friday or during other high traffic events. I'm also trying to hold onto more of my money this season. Like you, I like the concept of buying gifts for people. But, I find that a lot of money is wasted when it comes to my kids and the holidays. So, I'm trying to keep it simple and meaningful this year.

I love Christmas shopping, because I enjoy picking out gifts for my kids and family. The one thing that makes Christmas stressful, is the lack of finances to buy a gift for all the family. And I don't want to buy just junk. This year, I am making most of my gifts. I am either giving food (cookies, breads, brownies, or make hand made crafts). I do enjoy being out in the shopping malls with the other shoppers, it's just nuts waiting in those long lines when you have so much to do.

Hi, Of course, I do like shopping...i think most girls love shopping. But if I don't have money, how to shop. That is one of the reason why I hardly go for shopping again. Since I am not working and don't earn any income, I only shop for whatever necessary things. Last time when I was working...i like to shop for clothes,bags,etc.. as long as I saw something nice, suit me and the price is reasonable, I will buy for it.
