Hi zenkey, If the light is bright and not making you squint then I am sure that our eyes will not be affected.I too have the habit of reading every night but definitely not bible or any religious books , but whatever else I like and I have been doing this for years and my eye sight is still very good ...all the best

Hi zenkey, you got me wrong, if you read my comments, I said that if the light is bright and not making you squint then your eyes will not be affected. As for reading Bible, I am sure that it is like all other religious books- and for those who believe it is enlightening but for others like me who do not believe in either Religion or God it means very little - all the best

Thanks maam for responding:) First of all try to read BIBLE maam rather than some kind of books:) BIBLE is the most Valuable of all books in the world:) And for the eye, I didnt know that too much light when reading books can affect eye:( I thought that when you read in the dark your eyesight will be blurred:)

Reading from a page, in low light or any other kind of light, does not affect eyes in any way. Reading from a computer screen can be damaging to eyes because something in staring at the screen slows down our normal subconscious blinking-timer. Basically, when you stare at a screen then you blink less. This can cause some pretty major damage if it goes on too long. I read before bed all the time. Sometimes from whatever novel I'm working on at the moment, and every night I read at least a chapter of the Bible. Sometimes I stay up way too late reading my novels, but other than that I don't think it's dangerous for my health at all.

Reading in low light doesn't damage eyes, but it would be more helpful to have more light. Well I try to be a good person (There are some days... But of course, that's why I need Jesus.), and I'd love to be your friend.

I always read books before I go to bed. Nothing that deep or meaningful however. Nothing to really get me thinking either. Just something to really ease me into sleep and relax me. Books are good and reading for about a half of an hour before bed helps relax the mind and makes the transition to sleeping rather easy.

I read every night before going to bed, and have taught my kids to do the same. If I find that a book is too exciting or stimulating and don't want to stop reading it to sleep, I purposely pick up something else a little less exciting. . . I have read a book from start to end and sacrificed sleep because of it, but I try not to do it too often!

LOL:) I also do the same! I also sacrificed my precious sleep time for reading the BIBLE:) But its worth it as long as it makes you happy and learn something for good:) I cant resist it but i am trying to not alway`s do it because it will also affect my health and eyes:)

its not advisable to read books before you sleep i think because this will harm your eyes. Its just ok, in your situation to read like bible but only 2-3 verses. It is good to read bibles at night because you will be guided by it.. But of course 2-3 verse is enough. KEEP IT UP!!!!!!!!

I really laughed when I read:"Do you think its good to read books before reading"... I'm not criticizing you, but it make me laugh. Now answering to your question, I think that reading doesn't affect your eyes if you do it the correct way. I mean keeping the distance to the book(The Bible in your case), the light should be on, and you shouldn't exaggerate your reading time, I think that reading an hour is ok.

Yes, I do think reading before sleeping is very good. That is a way to relax and get rid of the stresses of the day. One would have a better sound sleep when relaxed before sleeping. In fact, reading before going to bed has become a favorite way for me to have a sound sleep.
