Do you like big dogs or little dogs?

Personally, I like big dogs better. In my experience, they are better companions, are easier to train and work with, and are in general more beneficial to me as a companion. I have two big dogs and one small one, and I love them all. But the small one isn't too bright. She's loving and quiet (thank God), but she is hard to train. If she wasn't small, she'd be unmanageable. So, what do you think: big dogs or small dogs? Or somewhere in between?

You know, for me it sort of depends on the breed. I think in general I like a medium sized dog because they are big enough to wrastle and play with without feeling like you'll hurt them but they aren't so big that if they want to sit on your lap on jump on your bed, they will crush you. But some little dogs are sturdier than others, like a Schnauzer. I like Schnauzers because they are strong, tough little dogs that love to play yet don't have annoying, persistent yapping...in fact, they have a moderate bark that often turns into this cute little howl. Now they can get a little too energetic or in your face and sometimes be too stubborn to train very well, but they are pretty good dogs. My mom's dog is a black and white pointer mix, about 40lbs and is just about the perfect dog in every way except she sheds like CRAZY! She has fur like a labrador, sort of medium short and it falls out everywhere.

That just brings up a whole other question of short or long hair, haha! I know what you mean. We had a lab/shepherd/Chow mix and he was big (80 some pounds), and he shed EVERYWHERE. But he was a great dog. I also agree about the Schnauzers. They are fun little dogs.

I like all sized dogs. I am the owner of two medium sized dogs. In my teenager years I looked after some friends dogs and took them out for walks. So I have had experience of small dogs and big dogs. I think big dogs can be highly trainable and dependable. Small dogs can have a mind of their own and certain breeds can yap a lot. I always dreamed of getting a dog. I looked at adverts for miniature poodles after reading which type of poodle would be suitable for me. The standard is large, the miniature is medium, the toy is small and I have heard of the tea cup which is tiny. I rang a professional breeder and got interested in Secret Party Circle. He is a white poodle with black patches. I got him in 2005 and then I got Magic in 2006. She came from a novice breeder. They are perfect for my life and they are wonderful companions.

I don't think purebred dogs are the way to go, no offense, when there are so many poor dogs in shelters or on the streets, being abused, starved, etc. HOWEVER! I am so glad you are happy with your dogs, and that you are taking care of them. Again, the most important thing with a dog is to be happy and content and to love them and take care of them, no matter what size or how big.

I like big size dogs. The smaller dogs are tiny and seem to be dependent. And smaller dogs often bark to others and they are not as understanding as the bigger dogs in my opinion. Big dogs are much more loyalful and I think they can protect me well. Who dares to pick on me if I have a big dog around?:) I love China

These are my sentiments exactly! Big dogs are more protective, are more loyal, and more fun in general, in my opinion. They are better to cuddle with, to take around with you, and are easier to train. And no one will pick on you if you have a big dog (or two!) :D Do you have any dogs?

I prefer big, big dogs. The bigger the better. But at the moment, my dog is rather small. So I like all kinds, really. But if I have to choose, I will always go for the big ones!

I like dogs in general. I just find big dogs better, so I guess we're in agreement about that!

In my case, I'd prefer something in between as big dogs can sometimes difficult to handle, especially if you didn't train them when puppies. I've had a boxer for 8 years and he's so big and disobedient due to the lack of training I gave him. Although when I bought it I was barely 12 years old so I didn't care much for its training. Anyway, as long as the dog is obedient, the size wont matter too much

This is true, but I think big dogs are easier to train. I don't like working with small dogs as much. Training is always incredibly important. I prefer big dogs, as I said, but they can be hard to handle, which is why I said my little dog is only manageable because she is little. I rescued here when she was five or six years old, and no one had bothered to train her anything. However, it isn't too late to train your dog. That thing about old dogs not learning new tricks isn't true at all.

I love dogs too, and sometimes you can't own a big dog depending on where you live and if you have a lot of time for the dog, etc.

I preferred small dogs. They are easily be trained and smarter. They can be low maintenance in food, check up, hair cut and other maintenance.
