Would Oprah Winfrey be this famous if she did not give her audience free gifts?

One of the trademarks of the Oprah Winfrey Show is the amount of freebies and gifts and prizes the audience gets. If she never did this would the show be as popular? She does a lot of other things in her show, but will that have been enough?

Yes, I feel that she would. She has been at this for twenty five years. She has added this gimick but she has other things to offer. SHe is the first to have interviews with certain people, the first to do the book club, she did alot of firsts. The gifts were just one of them.

Well maybe not as famous. However she would be well known I would think. Oprah has been on television for a very long time. Not all of her fame has been gathered by giving away free gifts. There has to be people who are fans of her show for other reasons. Otherwise, she would have been long since canceled. With that in mind, it does help that she does do those things.

I don't think that free gift giving is what has made oprah famous. I think she would have been just as famous without giving away a single gift. It is her personality that makes her shine.

I might consider that fact too. But since not all the televiewers weren't able to experience this they still love the segment. And that was important.
