I am not sure whether any one of you have donated blood before, I myself have been donated 7 time since I started it few years ago. Many people refuse to donate blood and they gives all kind of excuses like I don't like needles I am too busy I am afraid I'll get AIDS I don't have any blood to spare I am too old / I've had an illness and bla...bla...bla...but actually all those excuses are just cannot be accepted. It is a good practice to donate blood since it can save peoples life when they need it especially when you are having a rare blood type. I do know some of the country will pay you for your blood and many people are exchange their blood for money. So, do you or did you donate blood or selling your blood?

Hi yspmyl, I donated my blood once and that was the only time. I donated to save the life of a friend's sister who was a kid then and had fallen from the roof of their house while playing. The doctors told me that I cannot donate blood the next time when I wanted to do it as a charity because they found some fungal infection in my blood. Though this is cured now after medication and the tests have shown no more signs of infection in my blood, but today, my own ill health doesnt permit me to do it regularly. If I could, I would donate blood for free to help the needy. I know my blood group is O +ve and it is useful to many. Cheers, theSids.

Wow! That is amazing, at least you know your blood had saved someone life. Although I have donated 7 times of blood, I do not know whether my blood have really save someone life or just expired in the blood bank. For a healthy person, you will be able to donate blood for every 4 month and I think it is good for your own health too because it help to refresh you blood. A person with blood group of O+ve is someone who are generous since the blood can be use by all blood type of people. I think you are one. My blood type is AB +ve and according to research, there are not many people having this blood type and that is why I try my best to donate as frequent as possible.

Keep up the great work you are doing. And dont worry the blood at the blood bank wont die. I have been told by many that they kind of crystallize/convert the blood to some kind of powder and it stays preserved for a long time. Definitely it would have saved some lives. I am proud to know that you are into this noble deed and contributing your part to the world. Cheers, theSids.

Really? That is something new that I learn from you today, I never though that the blood can be converted into powder form and stay preserved for longer time. It is just nothing for me, if this can help other and save their life, why not just do it.

Unfortunately, I have never donated blood before. I had always wanted to try it at least once during my high school days when they were doing the local blood drives but I was always rejected. I'm not the healthiest person in the world and somewhat anemic so I couldn't afford to give any blood even if I wanted too. According to my mom I've been like that since I was really really young. I've been doing better the last couple of years so maybe I might have the opportunity in the future to give some blood.

I am sorry to hear that you are too weak to donate blood, hope that you will be getting better. It is fine if you can't donate blood if you are sick but since you still have the intention to donate, so you are still much better than other who are healthy but refuse to donate blood to save other people's life.

Thanks for that. I'm also glad that I'm feeling better now. I use to have to go and get my blood drawn at least once a month. Glad that is over with. But I can understand what you're saying.

It is a good practice as it will help other people not to mention the benefit to the donors health as well. I have tried to donate blood before but I have always been refused for being sick on the scheduled day. I will try again soon

That is really so coincident. I do hope that you will be able to donate blood one day and you are not sick on that day. It is a good thing to do since it can really save someone life.

You should give it a try since it is a good deed that can help to save others life. When talk about the needles, actually when you donate blood, when the nurse push the needle into your blood vein, you will only feel like an ant's bite and it is not pain at all. Do be brave and try it.

Actually, donating blood is good because your old red blood will be renewed by new ones. This can also be considered as cleaning in the blood. But in myself, I have a phobia to needles especially to syringe needles that is why i am afraid to donate blood. I think needles are very large enough.huhuhu

There you are that giving excuses that you have phobia to needles. Many people are using this as an excuse to not donate blood, Actually when the nurse push the needles into your blood vein, you will not feel pain at all, you will feel like an ant bite, that's all. So be brave and go and donate your blood and start to save others life.

When someone saying that they have no time for this and that, for me, that is an excuse. You are only a student and not a super busy business man or a super busy supermodel that do not have time for themselves. Time is always there and if you try to put some effort to do it, you will definitely be successful in that. So, arrange a day to go for a blood donation but not wait for it to come.

I did donate my blood once in my whole life. It was terrible. The nurse sucked the whole bag of blood away from me. Later, I felt very tired for few days. When I told my wife about my blood donation, my wife was innocently scolded me. ha! ha! ha! I were not supposed to give away my blood to someone. I just hope to have the second trial at the nearby blood donation campaign.

I have been donated around 15 time so far and have no intention to stop it as long as I still able to do so. I have no too much worries about AIDS or illness that might get infected from blood donation at all. Just have one thought in my mind that I'm doing the right thing to help others.

I never donated my own blood since i am born in this wonderful earth. I am one of those people who dont want to donate because i am also afraid of needles:) And i am also not selling my blood:) I also think that some people prefer to sell their blood than donating:( Maybe because of financial needs:(

You should try to donate blood to other and that is something good to do when it come to help someone life. It is not painful at all when the needless being push into your blood vain and it only take about 15 t 20 minute for the whole process. If you can just do a simple thing and that will save someone life and may be that is someone you love, why not just do it.

hello yspmyl, i am glad that you are a active blood donater. I feel shame as i never donate the blood before not because of the reasons you mention above but i am always hypotensive, my blood pressure is about 110/70 mmHg, lower than the normal blood pressure should be. I had been to the blood donation 3 times but everytime i was being refused because of insufficient blood pressure. Finally i give up to donate my own blood, but i still encourage other to donate their blood for saving life. Regarding your question here, if i fullfill all the blood donation criteria, i will prefer to donate my own blood rather than selling. Donating blood for saving life will let me feel proud and also is a good practice that should be encouraged. Lastly for everyone who see this post should go to donate blood unless you cannot fullfill minimum criteria to donate your blood. Good post yspmyl, happy always.
