What is there in an avatar?

Friends, our avatar here is our real photograph, or some symbol that represents us. When I joined mylot, I had put my real picture, and then I put some other pictures of mine. Later I put a pupil, which many did not like, so I removed it, and put my picture again. Well many don’t like to put their real picture, it is okey, but some male members put picture of some film heroine, I really don’t like it. I really don’t understand the purpose behind. So what is your view, what about your avatar? Professor ‘Bhuwan’. . Cheers have a lucky day ahead.

For me, I have personally always had my own picture as my avatar picture. The reason that I opt to do it that way is because of the fact that by doing it like that I am able to show everyone that I am a real person. There have been some times that I have thought about putting a picture of the children or something, however, I think that it works out the best to leave a picture of myself because it really shows who I am.

Hello my friend Professor2010 Ji, There is absolutely nothing in AVATAR, one is at liberty to choose own , I feel let them have their own will and pleasure, some post here only, at the same time some make it on their body. I have no intention to assualt at their liberty. You are very much liberal in disclosing yourself and we know taht a taecher is always pure in thoiughtb , word and deed. May God bless You and have a great time.

My avatar matches my screenname, in that it sows the flags of Denmark and Canada. I can remain anonymous on here, yet my identity still comes through in my avatar, and screenname.

Hi Professor! And you are quite a handsome man at that! My avatar is a photo of my birthstone, an Opal. It is a photo that a fellow mylotter gave me when I first came here over three years ago. It just felt right and it has stayed ever since! I don't have any photos of myself and honestly am not comfortable putting them up on web anyway. And by this time people are so used to identifying me by that beautiful Opal that I think it would be strange to change it now!

The eye ball was creepy! Very creepy because it moved! I realy don't have anything negative to say about people's avatars! Now that I know other people didn't like yours I had to say something! I think it is cool people have avatars! I don't like people who do not one! You can tell alittle about a person by their avatar! Some people like to use their own photo, like you Professor, while others use their children, pets or something else! I had used my late horse as my first avatar! Now I use a Snow Leopard. I do because I wanted a change and I love Snow Leopards! I thing they are beautiful animals! I still don't know why people use ones that that don't fit their personalities!

I think people think that is a statement about them. I wonder how many people think of mylot as fantasy land?

Well, you avatar or profile picture says a lot about who you are. It can tell people whether you are friendly, snobby, nice, mean, important, stuck up, real, fake, or anything that you want it to say about you. Sometimes, you can judge a person and who they are by their avatar.

Since I joined here, I have used my son's photos as my avatar. As you can understand how important he is to me. So at first I just think it's a good idea to use his photo as my avatar. In some other websites I will use our photos as the avatar. But since here this avatar size is quite small, so it's very unclear if I put our photo as the avatar here. This is why I chose my son's photo only. He has many close-up photos taken by me:) I love China

Hi Professor. My avatar has always been the same, a Blue Chevrolet Camaro. Blue is one of my favourite colours and the car, represents me, my character and personality. I think it's up to us whether to put our own real pictures or just any other symbols. After all, it's something that represents us or something that we like right?

hi professor, i placed emphasis on my user name hence the first picture i placed there was a tiger. then i experimented with my pictures and so far i have had 3 that i kept changing. there were comments, good and bad but in the end i find it is best to put real picture. guess there is no need to hide the face. in fact, friends in mylot seems to like it because they see the real me. i hope i am right in my assumptions. have a nice day. ann

Hi professor ji Our Avatar is our identity. Some members like to upload their photo and the others like to upload their pet animals/birds or any picture they like. I have also seen some members uploaded some actors pictures. But it is their taste and fancy. I have uploaded a picture of a kitten. I felt it is cute and lovely rather than my photo.

My avatar is my own photo. I use the same avatar in other sites also. Specially in article writing sites. This gains me many friends. I gave this same photo, which will be shown to new parents, in my child care department also. the people in the department told that it is a suitable photo for my job. The working and studying mothers want a kind person to look after their children. When seeing my photo they feel happy and comfortable, that I will be a kind person to their children. (Is it true?) So I like this photo. I have a dream of publishing my picture books, which are sleeping in my drawers as manuscripts now. If my dream come true I will use the same photo.

I used a pretty chinese pic when i was new here, then one chinese user here asked me if Im chinese. So I decided to change my avatar to avoid confusion from other members.I used my real pic with my one eye only be seen.then maybe I just got tired seeing my own eye I change it to my present avatar which is not me actually, but it represent myself being habituated into online activities.Besides I dont feel comfortable in posting my own pic.I prefer to leave lil mystery on me.

My avatar is usually a question mark or a diamond. I only put up my real pictures in Facebook...I might upload pictures of me in some other site but it will only be a distant shot, where my face isn't visible. That's because I like to be able to control my privacy. People that put up celebrities as their avatar probably do it because they like that particular person. I understand it and it doesn't really bother me.

At first I used a full picture of my face but then I fooled around with make-up and applied eyeshadow on my eyes and I changed my avatar picture(I have the same profile picture in Facebook)...I never had used a picture of other people as my avatar, I think maybe I'm vain but I respect those who does, well, since it's their choice

Hello Professor! I respect your point of view that you don't like people using some film heroine as their avatar but I also respect them, maybe they have reasons for it. When i joined mylot my avatar was a heart made out of french fries,I just like the picture so I used it but few days went I already changed it to a special picture of my daughter. I used it as my avatar because she is so special to me and I love her smile in that picture. It also represents that I am married and with kids. I have my real picture on facebook where my real friends are.

Mr.Professor2010 I like your question. As you said, many male members like put picture of some film heroine.Because they want to be concerned about,or a little of them have dirty thoughts. My avatar is I favorite cartoon characters.Sometimes he can give me some energy,so I am brave. This can makes me better!
