Do you ever mop your house floor. I bet most of you did, and of course me too. When I mop the floor, I will make sure it will not be too wet so that it will be dry fast and no one will injured because of the slippery floor. This is the story about my mother in-law again. When ever she mop the floor, she will use a lot of water and you can definitely see the floor is flooding with water. And it takes hours to dry. That is so dangerous when there are children running around. At least you need to dry it with the mop after you flooded the floor, but she doesn't do it, she just let the floor dry by it self. So, I would like to know what is your mopping method that you use, is it flooding the floor and let it dry hours by itself?

That is traditional way to wash the floor and I dont thing that is termed as Mop To me mopping is simple - use minimum of water and let it dry fast. I use a hand held washer for this... got it recently and I can do that now standing straight... Good gift for my small family - me and my wife... we can take up that anytime and the floor is clean again

Wow, a hand held washer? Is it a electrical type? I would like to have one if it is available here. That will save me a lot of energy since my house is quite big and is a 2 story house.

Floor Cleaning Brush - Ideal for washing floors
hehehe... (My wife too thought it this way when I said that it is a hand held washer and that is why I felt laughing - the names they give to things seem to mislead) It is not electric driven and it is not a gadget... They have named it such. Actually it is a kind of cloth attached to a long plastic stick or something. There are two models - one - you can squeeze the joints on the stick and it would drench off the water and the other one is - you can take out the cloth and squeeze to drench off yourself. The one that I have does not have any sponge at the end. It uses cloth. I attach a pic for better understanding. Hope that helps

hi when I was still in an apartment I was very stingy with the water using only enough to actually clean the floor as too much water left to flood the floor will weakne wood floors and make tile floors horribly slippery and probably the oldest one in the home would be the one to fall and break a hip.I never used a lot of water as that makes it reakky dangerous for all ages.

Hi Hatley, My house floor is made with tiles and it will not be spoiled if flooded with water. But if you have a wood floors it probably will spoiled it after several time of soaking and you will have to change it after some time.

Well, I use about two quarts of water mixed with some cleaner. Right now, I am using Fabuloso, because that is what we have on hand. I have one of those mops that has a slide down wringer (best invention) and it works really well. When the mop is on the floor, it is just damp, so when I am done it dries really fast!

Mopping a floor dry is beneficial as any residual moisture will attract dust and bacteria. The whole effort of washing and mopping goes waste. If you add children to this, one it is dangerous because they may slip and fall. Second the footprint they leave will make the floor dirty again.

You are definitely correct, I too do not like it when someone mop the floor and left the floor wet. It is so dangerous when there are children around. And you are right, it will be easier to get dirty when it is wet, where it will trap the dust and get dirty from our foot.

When I mop the floor, I don't floot it as I am worried it could wet the furniture. So what I do is to sqeeze dry the mp and mop thr floor. This is tiring as I need to everything two times to ensure that everything is done correctly but I am happy with the outcome.

Yes, you are right, flood the floor can damage the furniture. Some of my tools was rusty after my in-law flooded the floor and all my tools were soaked in water until I go and clean it up.
