Have you heard the radio commercial about $2000 in coupons?

Nelson Research company is sponsoring that ad. I was suspicious so I looked them up. They advertise they you get $2000 of grocery savings and they track the coupons, hence the "research". But don't fall for it!! A news producer heard about it and signed up to see what it was all about. You get: A "US Patriot Card" for store discounts. A "Liberty Fun Pass" for theme park and activity discounts. $1,000 in coupons from a company called GrocerySavers.com. What they don't tell you is that the "patriot card" is $19 a month, the fun pass is another $19 a month, amounting to about $400 per year! You don't get all the coupons at once but $10 at a time with a $2 shipping fee. I also read in a forum that they sign you up for several memberships when you sign up for these coupons that will charge your credit or debit card a total of around $80 per month and it's a real pain to call them all and cancel the memberships you didn't ask for in the first place. So beware! If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is deceptive!

I have not seen this, but thanks for the heads up. I refuse to give anyone my credit card info for those kind of things. It is crazy that they are trying to get money without letting you know.

With all the consumer protection laws that have been passed I'm surprised this type of thing is still legal.

I heard about that somewhere. Immediately, I was a bit suspect. That is really too good to be true. In fact it was beyond too good to be true. Plus, the best sounding things in life always have a catch. And this looks to be quite the catch to say the very least. Still I can just imagine a lot of people falling for this. Which is unfortunate but very true.

thanks. ive found out the hard way the other day that things like this is popping up more and more with online sneak scams. i mean sneak as they say its free but actually only the first month is free or low cost and you find you've signed up for a monthly sum without knowing it. so, we need to be more dilgent these days then ever before.

I would think that things like that would be illegal--they are deceptive and don't tell you everything. There are some slimy people in the world! That's an adorable picture--is that Coco? Doesn't look like the last one you had but the hat is cute!

Hiya dragon, What a shame they cannot tell the truth from the start and maybe just maybe they might get going in the right direction. I would certainly not join any of them either. The minute they start mentioning Credit Cards off I go I cannot abide them. They should state from the beginning what is what and not go round and round in Circles trying to deceive honest People. You´re right too it takes a hell of a lot to get those Credit Card payments canceled one by one and with all the whys and the wherefores too. They are only ending up with "custard on their own Faces" with that kind of Policy. Take care and have a great Christmas. xxx Have fun.

I had heard of a company like that. I'm just not sure if it was Nelson (sounds a little like Nielson, huh?) Anyway, I was smart enough to read the really fine print and said, "no". I wish they'd just close these "businesses" down and throw those involved in a dark cell and throw away the key. I'm so tired of the scams. It makes it tough for good businesses...and us!

Let's hope the Federal Trade Commission is on it... And thanks. I decided I liked Rudolph better than my own picture, so I might just keep it, at least until Easter...

Luckily as i live in england this would not ag=ffect me, but again there are hidden things that they keep from you. It is always best to read the small print, no company gives something away for nothing, there always has to be a catch really and unfortunately some people find this out a little late which really is a shame for them.

They do this on the radio and give a telephone number so when you call in you won't hear the "fine print" over the sales pitch--very sneaky! Wow, I heard that Heathrow was closed because of all the snow there. Stay warm!

they do seem to be really sneaky with things. It is a shame on those people that get caught out. Yes heathrow is closed at the moment, it is bad here where i live, we have about 10 inches of snow. It is so very very cold. I hate it.

I have seen similar online, and thankfully read the fine print. Another friend posted about an online scam that does things like that, adding memberships to supposedly free gifts and services. Thanks for the warning, I am sure they help some people.

I think I know the discussion you're referring to and I'm very glad she escaped being scammed! Deceptive things like that should be illegal.

The person behind the Idea has a lot of brains. Anyone can be fooled easily by the scam. But I feel that nothing in the world is for free and if you want free stuff then just see the Investments which you put to get the free stuffs. Here the scene is that we pay for the coupons and all the offer's so where is the Free scheme. What a scam. Thanks for the information.

I think it's human nature to want something for nothing. People are desperate these days for ways to stretch their dollars. You're right, these people are master marketers but they are deceptive, too, and I wish they could be put out of business.

That whole Liberty Fun Pass and the Us Patriot Card are scams within themselves. Thanks for letting everyone know about the coupon part as well. It is horrible to say but most of these "free" things turn out to be scams. My rule of thumb if you have to give a credit card number I would rather Pass completely! So many people get scammed into this and then it is very hard to get it canceled. If it calls for a credit card and it is suppose to be free... RUN the other way!
