Are you satisfied when reaching a goal?

I was wondering if people are satisfied when they reach a goal they have hardly fought for? Does the of reaching a milestone or a goal make people feel content and realize that it was worth it to put so much energy in it? Or they are many times just disappointed and saying that if they knew that the result doesn't provide them what they were hoping for they wouldn't have fought for it? What do you think about this? Are you satisfied when reaching a goal?

Oh goodness, i feel like I haven't reached a goal in ages. That's kind of depressing. Yes, there's definitely satisfaction involved (at least from what I can remember..) when you accomplish something you worked so hard at, and long for, even if the result isn't what you necessarily expected it to be. Thanks for starting this discussion. I'm suddenly motivated to think about the goals I've had and currently have for myself. LOL. So thanks!

Hi maezee, I think I know how you feel. Having not reached a goal for a long time does feel depressing. In fact, I haven't even had a goal for a long time, well, not until now. I'm a newcomer to MyLot, and have just set my first goal which is to write 50 posts in this site. I haven't set a deadline for this, maybe I should. But even setting a goal makes me feel a little better. I read somewhere that the reason why some people don't succeed in reaching their goal is because they set that goal too high. I don't know what your ambition is, but make your intermediate goals are small steps towards that end goal. All the best, and your future shine.

@maezee: You are true, it is very depressing if you set yourself many goals and you are not able to reach them. But it is very important to think step by step. At least this is what a successful manager told me. @cachalot: I think that a goal can called a true goal only if it is related to a deadline, otherwise it is not a real one.

A goal is never finished with me... I can always find way to improve it, but I've had times when I've clearly failed at some and became so disappointed and discouraged that it was hard to try anything again. But at the same time, I learned that the journey was great and that is where I have grown from so, yes, I am satisfied.

It's hard at times, but in the end that's all you got.

rappeter it actually depends on what goal I have reached and at what level I have I have gained, you may only get disappointed when so much people around you were affected by that result. For me it's better that when you set a goal just see to it that you really like it and be opened to the possible result as well even if it is a disadvantage or advantage be prepare to accept it. You must be sure about the things you really want in life so that when you pursue it you won't end up in frustrations. And remember that nothing will really make you happy in this world because the real happiness is in God's kingdom.

Yes, agree with the last sentence totally. This is why we are never totally satisfied in this life.

Hi Rappeter, Yes, On reaching the goal successfully, I do feel happy and elated... no doubt about that. But many a times, this elation or happiness is short lived for me and I feel it is because I am impatient. I need to get on with the other thing at hand and want to complete that one too successfully. Again, for me, a goal reached is mission accomplished there is nothing more that I can with it so... the happiness is at times overshadowed with the fact that - "Wow this was the only thing for which I spent so much of time and hard work... It seems to be so easy now Cheers, theSids.

Yes, I know what are you talking about. So many times we invest too much and get too little.

goals can be easily attain if you put your heart and mind into it.If you really want something done and have set a time to achieve it and still did it and satisfied with the results then you must be happy.Especially if you encounter difficulty in achieving it.

Yes, but many times the road lasts a lot and the satisfaction only a few minutes. So it is worth it?

So you are hard to be satisfied. But be aware that the most important thing in life is to be satisfied with yourself and with what you have.

Actually I am quite easily satisfied when it comes to others satisfying me. But when it comes to me, I am my worst critic, as it is what keeps me going and trying to strive for more.

I do feel satisfied when I reach a goal that I fought for and worked really hard for. It just feels really good, being able to do this. It's a nice feeling.

But how long do you feel good and how long have you fought for that goal? It is worth it?

Definitely. In fact, setting a goal is one thing. The process of achieving it is even more tough but fun. Sometimes when striving to reach a particular goal, we may not make it but the process of achieving it is meaningful. People say, it's the process which matter more than the result.

Sorry, but I cannot agree with you. For me the result is the most important thing, maybe this is why is too hard for me to stick to a plan in order to reach a goal.

Hey there. When I reach my goal, I am very happy and satisfied. I believe that goals are hard to achieve or if you want to achieve it, it will take time and effort. So we are able to achieve it, definitely we have put in some effort to get things done. I guess that is very fair for us to feel satisfied. However, we could feel not satisfied even if we reach the goal as maybe the result is not as expected as what we have originally thought of. Just my cents.

This is why it is important to reach maximum goal with minimum effort. Otherwise there will be only disappointment in the end.

Hi rappeter13! Reaching a goal in life that you've set for yourself is a great achievement. I feel more than satisfied when reaching my goals as my hard work paid off in the end. And that kind of an achievement is something you will never forget. Life however is not all sweet as there are bound to be disappointments in life. But just look over the disappointment, get up and try again. Like they always say, Failure is the mother of success.

But the satisfaction is as big as the investment(time, money, energy)? please be honest with yourself.
