I need to allow some blood into my alcohol stream!

We've just returned from a 4 day all-inclusive break to Benidorm, which is about 60 miles from where we live. We were going away with friends for New Year, but it was too expensive, so we decided on a 4 day pre-Christmas break, as a hotel our friends have used had a special offer going. We paid 250 euros per couple (about 215GBP), and we've had the most amazing time. The food was fantastic, the rooms were comfortable, there was entertainment every night, and the company was great - apart from a few people who somehow managed to drink even more than we did, but became objectionable with it. We all feel really relaxed, and ready for Christmas. Isn't it great to just get away from it all and be pampered? Only trouble is, we need to dry out now and let the blood work its way back into the alcohol stream, and I think - or rather I know - I've put on a few pounds? How do you like to spoil yourself? Everyone had such a great time, we're going to do it again soon, and take a few more friends so we can really party. I just need to give the hotel time to restock the vodka ...

I love your title! I haven't pampered myself in a long, long time. i am waiting for the pensionin just over three years for that. Then I have lots on the cards! Daytrips to places that I have never yet seen here will be a weekly thing. There are many organised really cheap here and a friend and I have already decided that we will be onmost of them Then the biggest thing that will happen is my long post-poned visit to my sister in US! That must wait due to offline circumstances but I am ware that it is getting nearer. I shall pamper her and I am certain that she has many things lined up for me too!

Hello, Diana. Love the hat - very seasonal. When we were away, some of the hotel guests had Christmas tree hats, and we tried to get some, but they must have brought them with them, because we couldn't find any. Nothing like two girls getting together to up the pamper stakes, is there? My friend and I used the leisure time to do some shopping, so the car was really loaded up. I like going on day trips as well. I do all the driving, so it's great to be ferried around and be able to look at the scenery instead of the vehicle in front. Lovely to talk to you. Have a great Christmas, and a prosperous, healthy and happy New Year.

You know, I had not thought of coach trips or bus trips. There are quite a few at great rates for people of mine and hubby's age. We do take day trips or take off to a nearby town to shop and then end up finding a new favorite restaurant. I know that all adds up to a weight gain, but boy, the food is lovely.

We all need a break and I am pleased to see that you managed a short one Sandra. Right now my idea of spoiling myself is two oatcakes instead of one! LOL. But I suppose my biggest indulgence has to be history books. Anything in the period 1066 - 1440 suits me just fine. Cheers.

Hello, Pikey. My, you're easily pleased! As I said in the box above, it doesn't have to be an expensive game being pampered, does it? I love my history as well, but I like the Tudor period best - I'm a bit vague on the earlier stuff. Hope you're better now, and that the fitness campaign is working.

sounds like you have lots of fun... i just came back from my 3 weeks holiday with my hubby back to our home country as well and i pampered myself there with food and shopping everyday... i have lots of fun as well... but unfortunately, we can't spend lots of money there because i am jobless at the moment... but still, we can still enjoy ourselves despite of limited funds... take care and have a nice day...

Hello, Lingli, Yes, we had a great time. A change of scene is always good, and as you say, you don't have to spend a lot of money to enjoy yourself. We've never been what I'd call well off, but when we go out, we go intending to have a good time, and we always do. All the money in the world can't buy the right frame of mind.

Hello, Dawn. I've never been snorkelling, but when we went to Monte Carlo for my 40th birthday, the sea was so calm and clear I could see the fish swimming under me, and it was marvellous. There's an island just off the coast of the Costa Blanca here in Spain where the snorkelling is good. When we last visited, we saw all the fish through the glass bottom in the boat and there were thousands, so when we go again in the summer, I'm going to take some snorkelling gear.

Glass bottom boats are cool, but there's something special about floating along chasing brightly colored fish!
