ATM - PIN Number Reversal

India
December 23, 2010 12:14am CST
Friends, if you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM machine, you can notify the police by entering your PIN # in reverse. For example, if your pin number is 1234, then you would put in 4321. The ATM system recognizes that your PIN number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in the machine. The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to the robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to the location. This information was recently broadcast on CTV by Crime Stoppers I HAVE NEVER TRIED THIS However I am sure our police will never reach the spot, I am dead sure of it. They reach the spot after several hours, may be after days LOL What is the scene at your place? Do the cops reach instantly if informed? Did you ever face problem at ATM counter ever? Please share. Professor ‘Bhuwan’. . Cheers have a lucky day ahead.

Sorry "Professor", this is a hoax that started around 2006. Thanks to you printing it verbatim from wherever you received it, WITHOUT CHECKING ITS VERACITY, we have more copies making the rounds in 2012. Goggle it - you with find plenty of links debunking this...

That is Very Interesting to know and I never Tried it yet. As I never had a Problem at the ATM. Luckily this Good Luck will Keep on Happening. The Police are a few Blocks away from my Main Bank Branch. I Think They will come Right Away. I hope this is a Standard Set Rule for Banks in All Countries.

I heard about this years ago and it is true. I've never been in a situation where I've needed it though. I live in a small country town, we don't even have an ATM and if we did the police would never get there in time because there are only two in the whole town and they are always off doing other things. Hopefully if anyone ever does have to use it, it will work and the police will actually move their butts quickly.

This is interesting information, and I really wonder how many would try this just to see if it would really work for them, and how long it would really take. I am sure if most people brought this up with their bank, unless it was the Security personnel none of them would even be aware of this, but if it is True then you would think more people would get word of this to where Robbers would still have a chance if police were to just think someone might be only trying this out to see if it works. Just my thoughts, but interesting.

I have heard about this process, but I have never tried it. I don't trust the polic mechanism in our country. I think the bank will alert the police, but I am not sure if the police will show up in the place and safe guard the person from the robber. There is not enough police to take care of all the people.

hi professor, this is one very useful tip. the machine will give money? i am not very sure about this. but if it happens i hope the police get on time before i lose all the money. so now, the police has to have the alert in a span of seconds so they can successfully act. have a great day. ann

Hi Professor!. Its something new that I learn. Maybe I will try it when I go to ATM just in the name of curiosity. Honestly I don't feel the policemen will come to crime scene quick enough. I hope this kind situation will never happen to me because I think the criminal will still get away.

prof, i too heard about this info, but luckily till today i don't face this kind of issues in my life. You are right about the cops, most of the cops in our place will reach after some time of the incident, we must use our presence of mind to come out from this kind of issues, if we faced it in our life
