that were on the gifts that you have got this year, so that you can use it all over again next year on other peoples gifts, rather than keep buying loads of paper every year.I think that some of the wrapping paper is really nice that people use and i do tend to keep some of it, as well as some of those gift bags that people use, as they can be reused as well.

I used to do all that...wrap sparingly and then any left would be used for shelf paper or packing paper or to line drawers and even as stationery! I had some really great paper that looked like REAL candy canes, so I cut it in long strips, like 8inches by however long, and write a letter (you know..a LETTER...transported via SNAIL MAIL!) to my grand daughter and she LOVED IT! Not just the cool candy canes that are her favorite, but a letter from me on such LONG paper! However last year and this year with money more tight, gifts were less so I went the gift bag way. Not having really liked gift bags as I love seeing the beautiful gifts and wrapping and ribbons and all, but without a tree...doesn't seem much point in doing all that so they sit in the corner for a few days till I take them to their desitnation...I went with gift bags. Thought I'd die when my duaghter in law took them from the kids and wadded them up and trashed them! Gift bags are SO reusable! So many things/ways to use them! I live upstairs so having things like gift bags which are often rather sturdy, is a great help to carry things up stairs. I also keep them for transporting things. Kids leave their stuff at my house so I bag it up for them to take back home, etc.

Another thing I used wrapping paper for...I'd watch it from all holidays and look at the design...I am a scrapbooker, so cutting out the designs from wrapping makes GREAT die cuts for that holiday page! Or use it as background paper if the theme was something special!

yes, I admit to it..Gift bags can be reused and so can paper. It's pretty, and why throw it away if it's good enough to use the following year? I know the kids loveeeee sponge bob!! Even if I don't use it myself, I can always share it with someone that might have a need for it.

If most of us do this, i believe that less tree will cut down to make a paper bag. we have to realize that there is a great damage of forest because we take the woods as the paper. i hope we can reduce the global warming too by this little action

joystick I save all the pretty Christmas bags and reuse them as money is tight for me and my son both. He just now has a part time job and is still looking for full time.I love those bags as I am a horrible gift wrapper and the bags with some tissue paper inside make lovely gift holders. The economy is so bad now we must save all we can.

Hi, that sounds really good that you save all your gift bags.I do agree with you that it is easier, as i am like you i hate to wrap things up, as well as i am na great wrapper upper. Here in the UK the cost of food is going up again with the vat increase and i think that things like heating costs are already really over priced.I am going to be joining a friend doing ahi for next year, like make cards as well as glass engraving.

wow, you can save money this way too. Something you won't have to worry about buying it all over again next year. It is another way to save money. We have to learn to save money each every way from our daily life, great post.

I think that there are lots of things that we get that are either wrapped up, in a box or in those pretty bags that people tend to buy to put gifts in, these can all be reused as well as alot of them can easily be stored, so that we can use them next year. The ways to save money and have less things to buy ready for next christmas.

I usually sell scrap paper for scrap collectors. the cost of scrap paper is quite high compare with other materials. I think that this is a good jobs to solve the waste material.

Yes, I do keep all my wrappers, especially those that are still nice and can still be used again. I always tag the names on my gifts and not write on it so that the wrappers can be used again. If there are writings on the wrappers, I would usually cut out the clean part and make it into small gift bags that can be used for small presents.

if the wrapping papers and gift bags are still in good conditions, then yes... i will keep them... why not??? it is a waste to throw them away as we can always re-use them like what you say... in this difficult economy, if i can save some money, then i will do it as it is not easy to earn money nowadays... take care and have a nice day...

I used to keep the bows on the gifts I would get for Christmas, to save for the following Christmas. My mom always did that when we were kids, so I picked up on that task. Now though, I don't keep the bows because they tend to get squiahed over the following 12 months. However, I always keep any gift bags I get.

There were mostly gift bags under our tree this year. I keep the good gift bags from year to year and use them again. The gift wrap, I do not use....I throw it away.

Hi joystick, Yes, I do keep some gift wrapping paper if it is beautiful and is not torn very badly. I also save almost all of my gift bags and tissue paper as well. I believe in recycling when it is at all possible. Not only are we saving money in our band accounts, but we are helping the environment by not throwing every reusable item in the garbage.

When I was younger, I used to collect wrapping papers, especially those that are shiny and glittery, not because I want to reuse them as a gift wrapper but I like to use them as covers to my notebooks.:) When I get older, no, I just tear them apart when I opened the gifts. I like the feeling of tearing those wrappers. It gives me an excitement I can not explain, even if the gift inside is as simple as a hanky.LOL

Me and my family practice that too. Some of the gift wrappers are really nice and not crumpled yet, it's such a waste to just throw them so we reuse them. We have a few bags too.

No, that's really a no go for me. I think saving up on wrapping paper is a bit too much for me. We have enough paper around the house so if we run out of it, we can buy some new paper. Usually the paper isn't even re-usable for us anymore, as my cousins always rip the paper of their presents immediately without hesitating, haha! So it's really one big mess with paper all around the room, so that's not really even possible to use that paper again. People also often write the names on the paper, for the person the present's for, so that's impossible again.

Recycling wrapping papers is a good idea but I have never done that before. The reason is the used wrapping papers have writings on them so it is not practical to reuse them. They all end up in the bins.

Nooo. I know people who save the wrapping paper but I am NOT one of them! That drives me crazy. I would much rather just buy new paper from the dollar store the next year. The only things I Might save are bags, if they're really cute and tissue paper - just because that stuff is more expensive. But I don't like having to "carefully" unwrap presents to worry about the paper not ripping etc etc. No thank you!

I usually recycle things that can still be reused, including wrapping papers or gift bags since these are the more commonly used nowadays. I use these for the next gift-giving season. Saves me some money and I'm helping the environment in my own little ways. :)
