donkey kong obsession

i have loved this game series (on all of the systems, not just the original) ever since i was a little girl. this is my all time favorite series. i just think the graphics (especially in the dokey kong country series) were way ahead of their time. they looked very advanced in comparison to other super nintendo games. even the music is excellent and i have several of the songs from the soundtrack on my mp3 player. i have eight donkey kong games in total and i am working on getting every donkey kong game out there (or at least the ones made in the us). is this weird for me to like this series this much?

You like what you like. It must bring you good memories. I think there are a lot weirder things that you could like. You could be obsessed about certain commercials, for instance.

yeah i guess you are right. i think that is why i like it so much. it brings back alot of memories from my childhood that are really great. and i guess it's a good thing that i am not obsessed with commercials or something. if i was then i would probably be too embarrassed to admit that on the internet anyway lol

When I was very small I would memorize commercials and perform them for my Grandmother. Anything she had in her house, like detergent, etc. I could do the commercial and she loved it.

i remember i used to play this game almost 20 years ago when we have "fiestas" (town festivals) here in my country. we were not that rich during those times, so meaning i do not have any consoles to play it, but i went to those small time merchants who had carts with lots of toys to sell and they have this console called GAME & WATCH. i rent the one with the Donkey Kong game, and almost drained my money playing it. i love Donkey Kong only because of.. Mario LOL. i think i am more obsessed on Mario though.

wow...i didn't know that those things existed. anyway that is really interesting. i always like learning about video game stuff. but anyway i am assuming that was the original donkey kong game...i didnt play that until i was eighteen years old. it's actually alot more difficult than i realized. i always thought it was pretty simple. and that is funny about mario...it's weird hpw they separated and became bigger "stars" without each other. i like mario too though. he is my second favorite.

In my opinion, everyone needs an obsession. I don't think it's weird or unhealthy to enjoy a game series that much. As long as you're not mistreating your health in the process, obsess away.
As for me, I wouldn't say I'm obsessed, but: Donkey Kong Country is the game that takes me back into the days when I was just a boy who yearned to get up and play videogames, without a care in the world. So, it does hold a special place in my heart.

i think that you are right too. having one thing that really interests you is a good thing i guess. and i agree that it should not get in the way of your daily life or hurt you, or else it is time to cut back (or stop completely). but i have similar memories of playing this game. i have been playing donkey kong country for about 14 years (since i was around five years old)
