Glucosamine?

I hear that glucosamine is good for joint health, and I am getting older, and my joints are reminding me about that LOL! I am thinking of taking an organic product (please not Monavie, that's like $181.00 CAD tax/shipping per month, and it's too expensive!) that has glucosamine in it.
I also looked it up in Wikipedia, and from what they're saying, it's just a hypothesis, and not an actual fact that it helps with joint health. In fact, they even mention some double-blind tests that indicates that there's no effect beyond the placebo whatsoever.
I'm looking for educated opinions on the use of Glucosamine taken in a food/beverage, or as a supplement in pill form, any advise or starting points for research would greatly help me. I just don't want to take any old thing, and I really don't have the money to do trial and error, you know?
I'm also going to look into my Melaleuca catalogue, and even though it's my favourite health online store, I'm not going to get anything if it's over my budget limit.
Sometimes even supermarket brands can do a world of good...but anyway, help/advise will be appreaciated. Have a wonderful day, and thanks in advance!

This reminded that two years ago I had such a nagging new pain, that jolted up my back. After several doctor visits, an MRI and x-rays, no one could determine what was wrong. I lingered for almost a year.
I could barely walk, stand or bend it. So my boyfriends mother said I should tru glucosamine. Whoa, yes very expensive but the pain for me was killing me.
So I bought it and after six days on it my pain dissappeard. Did it cure it?? All I know is that nothing else worked. I am so grateful..

Thanks, I appreciate it, I'll take down the info, I really do want to discuss these alternatives with my doctor because I don't want to take chemical prescription if I can help it at all, though she's not the type that automatically reaches for the prescription pad, which is a good thing.
I use a different type of computer "mouse" to help with my right hand, because after using the conventional mouse my hand starts to ache :-s And I really need to computer to help me earn a bit.

Absolutely and I do not mind at all, as I remember having to modify the way I used my legs to walk:
Trigosamine, Maximum Strength. It says lubricates, relieve and builds. Glusosamine 15.
I just took a picture of it and uploaded. LOL

I took a glucosamine/chondroitin combination. It takes about six weeks before you will notice any difference. I did not notice enough difference to make it worth my money. I know others who have said it did. I take many supplements at various times and all of them seem to provide some benefit, but healthy eating seems to do the best, as well as regular exercise and avoiding things that damage your joints, like aspirin and NSAIDS, which are okay occasionally but when taken all the time dry out the synovial fluid. I am close to twice your age.

My husband takes Glucosamine along with cherry extract for his arthritis. He is a disabled Vet and was finally given his diagnosis at age 30. He's degenerative so it will only get worse. Winter time is not a good time for him so that is when we pump the extras. We pay around $20 a bottle, but you can also order them online through GNC. I'm fairly certain GNC will ship to your part of the world but you may want to take a look at their shipping charges.
Again, it doesn't take care of it entirely but it does make it a bit more bearable. Now, when I had my car accident years ago my herbalist put me on White Willow Bark, Turmeric, and Paprika capsules. All of those are very inexpensive and they do work as well.

Well, I am not an expert on Glucosamine but I found a report saying that it is not better than a placebo! http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/09/17/3014518.htm
I recommend using MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane). It is a natural occurring sulphur powder and is found in plants. It is good for repairing human tissue, whether it is a flesh wound or joint soreness. I use it whenever I am working out as it helps to repair the torn tissue that occurs when you are doing exercise. It assimilates into the body better when it is taken with vitamin C so I blend it with Camu Camu powder, Goji Berries or orange juice.
