I do not know why, but it is one breed of cat that is a huge cat fluffy calm cat.Well for christmas that is what i got from my husband and my children.I had been feeling abit of a loss after one of my cats died a few months ago, so they thought they they would go out and get me a cat that i have always wanted, even though i have other cats that are alot older. We have named him Winter, as it being the season and he is a Red Pointed Ragdoll. He is getting on really well with all the other cats which is really great.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR Jugsjugs. Great to know that your long desired dream of having a Ragdoll cat is fulfilled this Christmas and it really is a pleasant news. I saw one of those at Pantnagar (it is a north Indian place in hills and has cold winters) when one of my cousins got married and they settled there 15 years back. I have a faint memory but it had lots of fur and stripes. I was quite younger and was scared of it as it used to move about freely in the house. Hope yours is definitely a better one than the one I have in my faint memory. Cheers, theSids

He is a ball of white fluff with the ears and tail being redish in colour. He has a great calmnature, he also likes a game as he is a kitten, he also likes to get fuss of people that come to see me.You can tell that he is my cat as i am the one that is with him all of the time, so if i go out of the room to the loo he will come with me or try to find me.He is a cat that likes company all of the time.

I had to look that one up, as I've never heard of these cats. They are beautiful! And such nice temperaments. That was wonderful of your husband and children to give you one as a gift. He will bring you years of love and companionship, much better than an inanimate gift! I hope you and Winter and the family are all happy together!

A shame she passed, but her health wasn't good and a kitten would've been too much for her to handle, she needed another older, affectionate cat, not a playful baby.

Hiya Elic, Sorry to hear about that maybe if she could have had one someone could have helped to look after it too. Even it was an older more affectionate Cat it might have made her feel better as well. Cats are very good company at the best of times.

What a sweet gift for your family to get you. Sometimes getting someone an animal as a gift backfires. I am sure they knew that since you have wanted one for a long time, that wouldn't be the case. Sometimes the new cat doesn't fit in with the others and there is no way to forsee that. I am glad you got lucky and he is getting along with the others.

Ragdolls are known for being calm, so i knew that he would be ok with my cats, however the other cats love him, as he knows that they are the older ones, lol.I now have 5 cats and they are all great, three of the cats are lap cats, so i have to try to make a fuss sometimes of all three that way they are all happy, the other two are not lap cats as they like to sleep where they want and have a fuss when they want.He even gets cleaned by our oldest cat and he in turn cleans her.

That's so GREAT! I had a friend who kept saying she wanted a Ragdoll kitten, but she didn't NEED a kitten - and she passed away before she got one.

Hiya Elic, What a shame Elic. I fell in love with a little kitten in a Pet Shop Window it was in one of those glass things that I really dislike to see them in. So cold and so inhuman glass cage things. The Kitten would come up to me through the glass and purr like crazy and rub her face against mine through the glass of course. Just her way of saying hello. Of course I did not want to get attached to it so I stopped going there for a while as we are not allowed Animals here because we are not Flat owners. Same happened to me with a little Puppy I loved it to bits an Ayrdale one and I had to stop looking in that Window. But I still really dislike those cold glass cage things they put them in.

It was a great gift and he is a great cat.I told my husband as it is my 40th birthday this year i would love to have another one, so that he had a cat of his own age to play with as my other cats are getting old and they get tired easy playing with him, however when they lay down to go to sleep he seems to lay with them as well, just waiting for them to wake up i think for another play.

Cats do not always agree that the living conditions to which they are welcomed meet with their approval, especially if there ae other cats already there. So not only did you get a beauty but he lives up to his breed's claims of a calm temperment. Enjoy

He is a very loving cat and he is like a ball of fluff now.He is a very calm cat, he has come into a house with 6 children and there are always noises here and yet he is really calm, never jumpy. He sits with me all the time and if i go to the loo and he realises that i am not there he will come looking for me.

Jugsjugs- What a wonderful Christmas gift! I hope you all have a long time of enjoyment with one another. And what a wonderful name! It reminds me of the wizard on Rudolph. We have been thinking about possibly adding another bundle of fur to our home but Lightening is a handful herself. Namaste-Anora

I thought that there maybe a few problems with the other cats with the kitten and there are none at all.You always have a boss cat that eats before all the other cats, so i knew that if they were all going to eat in the same or different areas then the boss would put the kitten in its place, however they are all getting on really well.It helps that Winter is so laid back in his ways, as well as that he is use to noise from childrenbefore he came here as i have 6 children, lol.

I'm glad to hear that he fits in well with all of you. We have recently adopted a BSH from the RSPCA called Axel. We have had him 4 weeks and he's still skulking behind th eTV. I guess that it will take some time to bring him out.

I had a kitten once that use to do nothing but get behind tv units and sofa, it took a few weeks and one day it started to sleep on my bed, so i got closer to the kitten and made a fuss of it, now she is fine, but she was an out door kitten when we got her and that is all she had known.

ragdoll cat, is it a doll or a cat? i do love cats too. they are cute. but usually in the philippines we don't buy cats. if we want cats we just adapt some stray cats. that is how neighbors usually get a cat. but we usually just feed them but don't actually let them inside the house or let stay that long in side. we just have them sleep outside the house. like anywhere around the house, the garder or they even just climb up the room and sleep there. but if the cat is so cute like what you have i would definitely care for it more and treat it like part of the family. but i don't have the time to care for any pet actually. so i just want to feed just one cat and that's it.

I think Ragdolls are so pretty. I used to work at an animal shelter and there was a kitten there that was a ragdoll. He was the most lovable kitten but always seemed to have a cold. Sadly when they took him to the vet he tested positive for feline AIDS and the vet recommended euthanasia so he would not suffer. It was so sad to know that beautiful little cat had to be put to sleep. I love their blue eyes and fluffy coat.

What's a ragdoll cat? I really like cats especially kittens. I wish that they will never grow up so that they remain cute forever. Cats are good but they are be quite noisy when it comes to time for mating. U are really a cat lover and your family member knows u best when it comes to what u like. It's a nice name for the cat because he's bringing u some warmth among the cold weather, but also bringing u some coolness in the summer, with his name.
