What are you fearful about the coming new year?

optimism for the coming new year? - the new year and all it brings

I know that the coming new year is supposed to bring us hope. And that a celebration at midnight has always been of optimism for the possibilities of the coming year. But if I turned the table, and asked you what are you not looking forward to in 2011, will there be a personal list for you? Mine is the tax season. I did a few things this year that greatly impacted my tax status. I am so not looking forward to the tax deadline. If only I could win the lottery before it rolls around! How about you? Is there a list at the back of your mind? Or do you let the celebration of bringing in the new year wash away all the fears that are coming? And do you let that optimism guide throughout the year?

fear, worries and mixed emotions this coming 2011 but I'm hoping that its for the best. I do have lots of plans and I will not go through with it without making an effort. So I pray that this coming year will be more positive, facing tomorrow and stand out..:)

I guess that in any day, there is always 'fear, worries and mixed emotions', even if it were not a new year. And I agree that effort and prayers would greatly help in whatever plans you have this 2011. Thanks and goodluck!

Well, we are still in the midst of a time where there is a lot of economic turmoil, so I guess that my one thing that I am fearful for this year is that the economic crisis will not come to an end and we will see more time where there are a lot of struggles in the nation. We've been lucky that to this point our family has been able to get by, but there is no guarantee for tomorrow and that is one of the things that really bothers me.

Actually, just before we left for the holiday break at work, we were already assured that this coming year was going to be as bleak, if not worse, than 2011. There would be another batch of layoffs coming. Which just means we're far from getting out of this economic turmoil. I just wish that we find ourselves still standing at the end of this crisis.

I don't trust the economy, no matter what they say and my health. Those are the two things that worry me in the coming year. I am looking forward to some of the challenges and making plans, but who knows what will really happen? I'm not a pessimist by nature, but it's time to be a realist.

I, on the other hand, am a pessimist. I think this is one of the reason for this discussion. And you've brought up two very real concerns of mine. I thought the economy was getting better, but some news at work just confirmed to me that it isn't and we're still in for a rough year. My health is another thing that's been gnawing at the back of my mind. I think I'd be hit with something before I can carry out my plans of getting healthy. Thanks for the great response.

I don't fear tax because I earn less than min wage anyway it's only part time job and my business is still paying loan interest so tax is not my concern hubby's also slows down, his customers are mostly having financial reorganization so all in all I don't think we'll be obliged to pay tax my biggest concern for 2011 is to pay off my debts to avoid higher interest hopefully it will happen as planned if I pay off my debts then I can start helping hubby pay his

Oh yeah! The debt is also part of the things that I am fearful this year. I've made a conscious decision to do something about it this year, but I am also fearful that I might not really make a dent on it. Hopefully, I don't get hit with any curve balls, so that my plans go accordingly too. Thanks.

I am going through sort of transition period of my life.I am in mid twenty. And what next question freaks me out.I dont know why but it does.I was trying to set myself good in business and other things and now when everything is ok there is sort of empty ness.I am still trying to be positive but still ...

I think life is just like that. Even with the 'emptyness' that you feel, you just have to go through it. I think this is nature's way of trying to make you more mature, and making your resolve even stronger. Hope 2011 brings you all the success you desire.

Ooh, are you going to join the "The-IRS-is-after-me" club, too? I am already in that one. Luckily not too deep. I am actually excited for tax season because I know that I will have some extra money in my pocket, even after they take out what i owe them, as I am finally claiming myself as an independent and with zero excemptions or whatever. YAY! Luckily the IRS (You are in the US, right?? I feel like you might be from Canada... Well, if you are in the US, that is..) is really good about payment plans, so I'm sure you will be fine. I am fearful of a lot of things. 2011 is the year that I need to go back to school, get a new job, and just experience all of these big, scary changes. But I know that it's something I want to do. The school I go to will likely be a cheaper school in a suburb outside of the Twin Cities, which I have never been to before (I am NEVER going back to the U of M..Hate 'em!!) and the job I want will have absolutely nothing to do with dry cleaning or working in retail. The unfamiliar freaks me out. I am so comfortable doing what I do, that when it comes time to change... I shy away from it just because it's easier to do what you're used to. BUT - I figure this is no way to live life. You gotta step outside of your comfort zone, try new things, move on with your life, etc - you don't want to be stuck doing the same thing every day for the rest of your life (Well, some people do, but definitely not me). I have always had high expectations for myself, my education && my future career - so I just need to act on this feeling and get my freakin' degree already. Another fear I have, even before the fear of doing something unfamiliar, is not landing the type of job I want because I don't have educational or experience-requirements. I would hate to not be able to find a job and be stuck in my current one. But I am definitely going to try to be optimistic about this! I hope you have a VERY prosperous year Bounce. I am tax season won't be quite as daunting as you think.

Is this an exclusive club? I don't want to be that special to be in this club! Where were you with this advice of ...this is no way to live life. You gotta step outside of your comfort zone when I was trying to step out of my comfort zone. Two years removed from my experience with the unknown, I still second guess myself if I made the right decision by staying with what is familiar. I known this 'going-back-to-school' thing with you has been on your plate for the longest time. I hope that this 2011 will finally be the year that you do it. And maybe step out from the customer service industry that you're in, and into something more interesting for you. And maybe even more profitable. Goodluck!

The last time I was Extremely excited about the new year was when I was 17, in the next week I would turn 18, legal of sorts. every years end is just the years end. I hated to see 1984, 1997 and 2002 end, these were great years for me. So I never just be optimistic about the next year. 2011 I hope is just a great as 2010. But in the back of my mind I think things will end. I have hope but In the back of my mind , I think , All o this will end for me and I'll have nothing. but I have my guy and my good friends so this thought isn't in the front of my mind.

Careful Sarah. I think the pessimist in you is still trying to get out! I guess that's what we are all pessimist are like. Even if things are going great, there is still that feeling at the back of our mind. And the only thing we could do about it is to make sure that it stays there. I also do hope that 2011 will be good.

I'm not worried about taxes. I dont work so I dont have to pay taxes. In the upcoming year I have to file for divorce. I also will have to go to court eventually as I was denied for SSI and I am trying to fight that so I can get SSI. I am worried that I will be denied and will have to start working and then I will have to send my son to day care.

Your fears are very real shaggin! It is something that I don't want to go through myself. It is something that you can't get away from. And I guess the only thing to get it done, is to go through it. I wish you luck, and I pray that you don't have to be put into a situation where you have to be away from your kids for a long time.

What I'm not looking forward for this year is simply GOING BACK TO MY BAD HABITS. That's it. I'm optimistic that this year will give me a better insight in my life and will give me another chance to change whatever I want to change and become a better person.

I think you should use the optimism of this new year as your drive to not go back to your bad habits. You've already won! You've already conquered them! As you realize the better you, the more reason you don't want to go back to those habits. Thanks for dropping by.

After the horrid year that I have, I am taking a different approach with the upcoming 2011 year. I am going to try with all my mite to start out very positive and hope for all the best. When adversity come upon, if any I am going to say to myself this too shall pass as I am certainly grateful that I am still alive and healthy. I did not function well with 2010 but have to say it brought a way new approach to the way I think and feel about a great many things.

I think you're right. Even thought 2010 was a bit horrible for me as well, and that the same prospects loom for 2011, we should at least be still thankful that we are still alive and healthy. May your positive thinking work wonders for you this year.

hi bouonce for two years I have been most pessimistic but this yeare is going to be much better for me and my son. He will get that great job and we will find money to again rent an apartment for the two of us, this year the tide will at last turn.yes I am going to be postive and attract only good towards myself.

I am sure that is the best way to approach things. As I'm sure 99% of the people in the world got it right. Which is to be optimistic and look more positive in the coming year. I wish you and your son great things in 2011! Thanks Hatley.

I am not worried about tax as I have no taxable income. I am seriously worried about the global warming and its impact on the coming year. This year we have faced hot summer and low rain. In the news I have read that many part of the world are facing serious snowfall breaking earlier records. So, is coming on. How we shall continue with our daily life? How the poor will survive?

Unfortunately, not a lot of people can see as far as you see. People can't seem to get past their own personal problems to even worry about social concerns such as global warning. I just hope you take the next step, and do something about it. It would make for a better world if a lot more people had your views.

I just shared with another social networking site that I can look with anticipation at the coming new year because I know that each day brings me closer to that glorious day that God has promised to all His children. Christ brings us hope. If we have Christ in us, we can look with hope to whatever the future brings. Optimism is choosing to look at the positive rather than focusing on the negative things, choosing to look at the good rather than the bad, choosing to trust God rather than be shaken by our circumstances. Happy New Year!

Even if you won the lottery before tax time... you'd owe lots of taxes on it before you could spend any of it to pay for the other taxes!! lol! I guess I am not looking forward to this next year as I am settling into taking care of my adult son. He was injured in an accident and I really thought he'd be better by this time.. it makes going into next year a little sad for me...
