I was just thinking back....

over the years and what I have lost. I was reading a topic on here that a guy wrote about his friend. She had broken up with her BF and she was depressed. So what do she do? She goes and cuts her hair. It got me to thinking what have I lost due to men and relationships? I had some cool antique christmas tree decorations that my grandmother had given to me and I lost those when I left my husband in a hurry. Then I also had to sell some rather nice antiques from my mother so I could move away from my husband still another time. And the list goes on and on. And even earlier back I lost some romance magazines back when I was a teen and moved from another town. Lost a signed copy of Dances With Wolves when I left my ex for the last time. What have you lost because you had to move and couldn't take it or lost it in a move?

The thing that I have lost that tears my heart out were baby pictures of my son. I was living in Alabama and was bringing my daughter in to Tennessee to see "dad's" side of the family when my car tore up. I spent every last dime I had to get it fixed and it tore up again on my way back. I had no one to call so I came back to his side of the family. While I was trying to get back..the landlord went into my rental and took everything of value for the two months that I was away...he burned the rest. Birth certificates...pictures..everything. I was totally without. I could get most of it back but never those baby pictures. I think they were my greatest losses.

What a bummer. Some how I lucked out and didn't lose any of those. He burned some? What a louse! I can remember being homeless but I always thought ahead and got my kids stuff hidden so it wasn't lost. Luck of the Irish perhaps.

He burned what he couldn't sell. I actually talked to him several times and told him when I got back that I would give him the money as I made it to pay the rent I had missed but he wouldn't hear of it. I was in a tough spot. I was also very young.

wow - it's hard to believe how heartless some people can be, that's just awful. I guess it takes all sorts but I sure hope that he gets his just desserts some day!

I lost a cool reel to reel tape deck when I left it with my step-mom and she left it behind somewhere along the way. I also had an early Mark Twain book get water damaged in a Midwestern flood when I let it with a friend.

That is sad. I hate to think I let go of that book but can't do much about it.
