Well, I think I re-introduced hot cocoa to my husband's father tonight! I know my daughter really liked it before, and so did I. My son, who usually doesn't like today's instant hot chocolate really did like the old hot cocoa that I cooked on the stove. Hubby's father really enjoyed it, brought him back some memories. Hubby's mother, who never drank hot drinks in her life, decided not to try it, but I'll work on her LOL. It seems like her family never did make it when she was small, just tea, but she doesn't drink coffee or tea at all. I know I shared that I learned to make it in an earlier discussion, but just seeing my father-in-law's reaction made me just wanna share, and he's usually an old grouch haha Mother-in-law does, however, like my old-fashioned lemonade that I offered her, tho :-) It's just lemon juice and sugar in a pitcher of water, that's it. Much more refreshing than the store-bought stuff.

The only thing I do differently for the home made lemonade is to start out with what they call simple syrup. I use equal amounts of sugar and water and boil it so the sugar is completely dissolved. I add the syrup and the lemon juice to water. You can do it with bottled lemon juice. To make it really fancy you can take one whole lemon and slice it paper thin into the pitcher, or throw a few maraschino cherries in it for pink lemonade. The lemonade mixes are all just chemicals. The frozen lemonade just does not taste as good for some reason. These old fashioned recipes do touch our memories as well as our tastebuds.

Thanks for the tips, I think I'll boil/dissolve the sugar, I do that when I'm cooking cranberries for turkey/chicken
