Hi Guys! Not The Greatest Christmas Ever, Roll On 2011!

The bad weather put paid to going out on a regular basis although we did get to see my Uncle Joe. We also had him round on Christmas Day and both my brother and his son came too, so that was a good day. However, something happened to overshadow all the 'goodness' and that was...my account was hacked online! It all happened via a site that sells CDs. I'm not prepared to mention the site as I don't want the same thing happening to anyone else BUT I did access it via the X-Factor website as opposed to going straight into the site as I would do normally. It wasn't Amazon by the way but a site I don't think I've used before, even though it is well known. Besides £3.99 coming out for the Matt Cardle CD I was fleeced another £100 which was Christmas money from John. I found all this out on the telephone because John rang me to tell me I'd sent him a dodgy email from my machine, even though it's defunct (I am typing now on a brand new Compaq which is doing the job very nicely thank you) so this rang alarm bells to make me check my account. To say I was gutted at having £100 stolen is an understatement, especially when I'm always saying how wonderful ordering stuff off the internet is. I guess I won't click on a link on sites like X Factor anymore from now on. It's not normally the way I shop online. My bank is sending me a form so I'm hopeful I can get this £100 back. I've also cancelled my debit card as a precaution so I shall be receiving one of those shortly. It's a good job I received some Christmas money off my brother, otherwise I'd have no money at all! Has anything bad happened to you over the holidays? I hope not. I blame the one magpie I saw in the tree (One for Sorrow as they say) and I did try finding its friend but to no avail!

Hi Janey.. .I am sorry about the bad experience that you had online... Be careful next time when you purchase something online... This year it was bad... I haven't received any e mail from my lady for entire month... I had to work on new year's eve too.. That is nothing though.. If I only knew that she is alright and she still loves me, if I could only know... Don't know how to know it!! God help me!

Okay, I think I should follow your advise... Wish I could understand her mind... I feel too weirdly lonely, without a clue as to whats going on...

I wish I knew all the answers regarding relationships my friend, but, unfortunately, I don't. I do think your lady-friend will contact you but I don't think it's nice of her not telling you WHY she hasn't contacted you for a month. Put it this way, I wouldn't keep someone in the dark like that. I really hope 2011 is wonderful for you.

A word of advice (and I know it's difficult) but..don't do anymore chasing! If the lady thinks you're not interested she will contact you and yes, us girls are strange!

It is an awful feeling isn't it? Last year I had almost £100 taken out of my account going to Orange, I've never been with Orange in my life! Thankfully the bank were very quick in getting the mi eyback to me - only just over a week. I hope you get yours refunded quickly.

That's awful..and I'm glad you got your money back. I'm hopeful the same will happen to me as the scammer is leaving a trail in my inbox. I can't say too much about it but call it 'evidence' for the bank.

Thank you for your concern, it's much appreciated. I do have a strong case as I have printed off a few emails as evidence of some dodgy dealings going on. To be honest, I'm glad 2010 is out of the way so I can concentrate on 2011 that I'm convinced is going to be a much better year.

Sorry to hear of your bad luck, here's to a better year. As for Christams well other than putting up with relatives visiting who were only here becuase they felt obliged to visit rather than wanting to it wasn't so bad. On the subject of the internet fraud and an idea you may like to consider for in the future. You could get a prepaid master card (Virgin do them) then all you do is load it up with enough money to spend and then if you do have issues over it being hacked there won't be much money on it for the criminals to get. It does cost a small percentage more on each transaction but is a way of giving you a bit of peace of mind.

It's the way I got to the website in question that is different to how I normally operate. I have learned my lesson and am currently in the middle of trying to get my money back.

Janey, so sorry that the weather has slowed you down, and the rip off was not fun at all either. Often the banks can help you. I sure hope so. We shall then resolve to have better times next year.

Hi GardenGerty! Yes, the weather was annoying but the fraud was worse. Now that my new computer is up and running I've been able to access my emails and a couple in particular are very interesting. I shall see what the form is like when it comes from my bank and I may send them printouts of said emails, or even ring them up..not decided yet.

Well, I've managed to access my emails on this new computer and me and John have spotted something interesting regarding this scam. I'm undecided as to whether or not I should ring my bank (Direct Banking) but I'm due a form off them so I reckon I shall wait for that.

Wow Janey so sorry you had to experience this. Hackers are on the rise and will not be slowing down in the new year. Continue to follow through with the banks as hopefully there is a good chance you get your money back.

Yes, I will follow through with my bank. They've been great so far..cancelling my debit card for example. I have new information after accessing my emails for the first time (now on a new machine as my other one broke) so the more information I have for the bank, the better. It seems this person tried to buy a Playstation on a site I used to buy my CD from but, because he couldn't verify his details he had to go elsewhere, and all this I have printed off from my email inbox. We even know his address that the Playstation went to but I'm not going to pursue him, I shall leave it to the investigators at the bank.
