Hello Lotters,
I didn't realize that my Dog was too attractive even though she's doesn't go out side at all. so attractive to DOG Fleas that is
. I know i have been taking my dog to bath but never that serious and thorough until today. I didn't realize she was having a lot of fleas.
The supposed 15 to 30 minute bath took a bit longer since I had to Literally Remove them by "HAND" which really took hours. for now, I am relieved that i have gotten almost rid of her flea problem, most specially in her paws that was one of the source. for now, I had been talking to a mylot friend about this in facebook. I can say, it's really shocking that i should have known this a long time but she's about a year old anyways so i can deal with this as early now as possible.
I am so guitly for not taking
too much attention on my dog and instead am always paying attention on my cat. but now, i love my dog more since she never ignores me or moody.
Don't have the money now but i have some idea from my friend about some vitamins that she needs to take. Personally, I envy people who have healthy and Fat Dogs.
I hate these Vampires!

Hi sweetie.
No need for envy.
Give her garlic.
And try to get some frontline.
That is really potent.
You will have a problem now as it rains a lot.
Keep her away from long grass and sand can be just as bad.
Bathe her every weekend till the fleas are gone, okay.
Baby powder will work as well.
Not too much, though.
TATA.

Hello
saphie,
I am not sure about giving her a garlic thing since a friend of mine here told me it's dangerous for them to have it, though. It hasn't rained much this month but indeed it's cold and winds were a lot more these days. She's on the leash and inside but in the front yard only. I would bath her three timees a week.

In fact, a simple bath, only with water (no soap, no shampoo !) canot do any harm to the dog. You can bath her like this as many times as you want. The shampoo (or soap) is the one who can be unhealthy for her skin.

I understand completely, my puppies have fleas now and I can't do anything but pick them off. This is because I guess the last batch of frontline I got was old and because I used it, I have to wait until Jan 11 to put anything on. Here is a tip, if your dog doesn't go outside, is get some lavender essential oil and scent free dog shampoo. This does work, but the problem I had was my dogs would go outside and after a few days, the lavender wears off and the fleas come back. And I can't give them a bath every other day, but it may work for you.

I bought my scent free shampoo at Walmart, but I thought it could be bought anywhere because dogs who have very sensitive skin can't tolerate additives in their shampoo. As for the lavender oil, I bought that on ebay, but remember, this will not repel the fleas, but it will kill the ones your dog has. In order to repel the fleas themselves, I have tried so many ways, and even buying frontline online was a bad move due to the last batch expiring and not working. Now I am trying a new one since I can't use chemicals on them for another week. That is drops of eucalyptus oil mixed into mineral oil that another mylotter friend uses. The first time I applied it, they still had fleas, then I applied it again a couple days later and now there are none. But it is cold her now, so I can't say this will work, but you could try that as well...

Hello
Carmel,
Well, I am not sure if that product is even available in my country. But if you have time to comment on me, make sure that you give me the link of this scent free dog shampoo. Maybe the scent from the soap and shampoo must have attracted the flees for some reason. Thanks and have a nice day.

Hello
Lingli
Well,
I have gotten used to it by now not to mention I have a new soap that lessens the flea infection in my dog. As for them, I wish I could get rid of them all but it's hard to find them lately. Probably I can check the ceiling and let it all put there. Thanks for the comfort and encouragement.

I have a dog too, and he has rashes (galis) too which we suspect came from the stray cats that he likes to play with a lot. Maybe you should also pay attention to your cat and make sure he has no fleas to help your dog. I see my dog scratching himself until he bleeds. And to think that he only plays with them a few minutes a day when we let him out for his bathroom rituals.

Hello theadvocate,
I hate rashes but so far she hasn't gone to that level yet. Well, come to think of it maybe I should take my cat to a bath as well and check if he has fleas too. But I have been checking and I haven't seen much since I touch him more often than my dog or simply his dark hair is preventing my from seeing it though.have a nice day

Hi there friend!
We both have the same problem with our dog, worse, our puppies have it too, ouch!
They say there are really a season of fleas for dogs,it will all just be gone in time and will come back again, this is the hurtful truth.
We are using a certain powder for our dog before,it's a powder especially made to kill all those fleas but it didn't take all the fleas, well,at least,it lessens. You can try it,I just forgot the name of the powder but it is available in supermarkets.
See you around!

Hello
Guanlao,
AS long they don't multiply and clean my dog all the time that will help I think. Besides she is very much lovely in terms of getting my attention but very humble and playful. As long as it lessens and it doesn't do terrible damage to her.

Hello catch,
You're right I guess giving her attention is at it's best I think. She's really fun to begin with though. Just hate them so much but now they have been lessen, last night when we talked and you asked me to check her gums I saw a big one and two small ones already, ready to spread. I will choose the one you recommend by then I hope it would ease me from removing them all literally. Have a nice day.@LetranKnight25 (33117)

hi letran oh yes dogs can really suffer fromt the darned flea bites and also for some reason if there is a flea anywhere in the premises it is going to find Hatly and bite her on the legs. ouchil. I found frontline flea collars great for my dog but as soon as it became clear the flea season was over I took the collar off. the bad thing about frontline is that it can irritate some dogs necks, mine was fine b ut I know some people will not use them. but after the one time I never found any more fleas on my dog so am not sure what was keeping them off. I used a soap given to me be a friend who was a veterinariam to bathe my dog and it must have been a flea repellant. I checked to see that the soap did not irritate her skin. hope you do not have anymore flea problems.

There are many stores around town and many towns that offer flea and tick medicine. It isnt a medicine that the dog takes put a medicine you rub on them once a month. I do this to my dog as it does help, He has had fleas but that was because we were doing something wrong.
Another thing that helps and that helped me was getting my lawn sprayed for pest and getting it fertilized. It helped out and really got rid of those nasty things in the yard. I didnt want my puppy getting any more hurt by bugs so i took care of hte problem.

Hi Knight.
My hubby works with an animal welfare group and their specialization is to rescue askals from getting butchered. Those dogs are not healthy looking and they have all sorts of health problems including fleas and ticks.
However, the vet in the center is taking care of them so well that those dogs had fully recovered and they are now as healthy and as beautiful as the dogs with pedigrees.
You can start by feeding them the right diet. And try using ingredients on your dog that will drive away those pests from your canine's body.

I hate fleas too! I think you need to check you dogs coat for fleas. That's what I do if I have time to bond with them. My dogs have the season of fleas and sometimes they are flea free. I also literally remove it by my hands and kill, they don't want longer bath time so as much as possible I take the fleas whenever they are sleeping or just lying down. If the dog refuse to, I take the fleas out when bathing or sleeping.

Though I have been giving her baths, I didn't took at her paws before until that day. I feel pity more on my brothers dog since she is indeed getting thinner and I can see those gigantic
flease coming from a few meters from my sight. @Suggar (3606)

Hello Letran,
my cat lives at home, but he has every day walks around 1 hour or little less in the cold seasons and meeting outside pets or homeless animals, or just the garden, where every kind of animals can go that's the normal result.
In the summer fleas are more. If you care for the dog in your home, fleas can be little dangerous for you too - they bite and if you have sensitive skin you will see the result by yourself. Also as someone said fleas are one of the first problems one pet can have with it's health. Long ago my vet told me that nearly every pet which has fleas has stomach worms too and you need to be careful, because the worms are wearing a lot of illness with them.

Hello Sugar,
I know it can be dangerous, but my dog is a lot more exposed to them than I do. So, I guess I need to put my guts together and remove them with the risk of getting the bite. I love my dog, I can't believe she's been infested by those blood sucking vampires. Ihave been feeding her something that can get rid of the worms someday. Have a nice day.

In veterenary clinics, There is a spray known as frontline, it causes around 500 pesos, you will just spray it in your dogs back neck and by a week, fleas are gone. It really works fast promise. I think spending money is really the only way I can think of. You can just manually remove the fleas. There are so many cheap ways to get rid of fleas but they were dangerous.

Hello CaptainAlbert,
Well,
removing the fleas really took me guts since they are so disgusting and some said here to be dangerous too boot. So front line is kinda expensive huh, I guess it's gonna take me some saving money often a bit.if the one you said is 10 dollars and cheap now, I wonder how much would that be if I check in the vet's store.

You're not the only one who is facing this problem. This year was the worse year, I haven't seen so many fleas on my dog until this summer.
If you can see and pick the fleas from her coat, go for it. I can't do this with Binne, as her coat is black (well, the most of it) and it is a good hiding place for the fleas.
You will have to repeat this every day until there are no fleas any more. This is because you pick some fleas but you can't see and pick the eggs and larva.
Make sure her bedding is clean and fleas free, as many fleas usualy lies in the bedding.
If she stays more outside, you may consider planting some mint and marigolds, which are known as flea repellents.

Fleas will always live especially in a furry body. The simplest way I could prevent fleas from staying in my dogs' fur is by applying flea powder in their body. Sometimes I could see big wounds caused by the fleas. I will really kill them!
