The High Priestess Card 2 - Tarot card The High Priestess

The High Priestess is a card of mystery. She represents the feminine mysteries, and is in her right the Great Goddess. She is the bearer of the Grail. She is the Lady in the Lake. She is the keeper of the veiled knowledge. In the progression of the cards she is the magician realized. She knows that she is responsible for all magick that she does. When we view the High Priestess by herself in the drawing of the Tarot we are being given the guidance as it relates to our intuition, and our own connection to the mystery studies. We are also gently being reminded that our life should be balanced. The High Priestess is located between Keter (The Crown) and Tiperath (Beauty) on the Middle Pillar of the Tree of Life. She in a sense is the embodiment of the true balance of Mercy and Severity (Might). Though, as we can see her pathway is a downward movement from Keter to Beauty so her knowledge (D'aath) is hidden or mysterious and comes from the Divine. She is reminding us that all things must be lived in balance, but she is also teaching us to be open to those mysteries and to trust our knowledge that may come through dreams, astral travel, or deep meditations. In application to the world outside of the ethereal plane the High Priestess is guiding us that we cannot be one extreme or the other. It is like parenting. A parent cannot be completely authoritative allowing his child to do nothing, but he can also not be so relaxed that he permits his child to do everything. It is reminiscent of the old teaching “everything in moderation”. So if this card is drawn one may need to take stock of their life and find out if there are any areas that are in need of balance. In relationship to the ethereal plane this card is guiding us to use our gut instinct. In any given situation that one experiences in life one may get that sixth sense about it. The High Priestess guides us and encourages us to use that sense. We are all capable of tapping into that hidden sphere of knowledge to find our answers to the current situation at hand. As with any reading the guidance depends greatly upon the surrounding cards, and the application of said card would depend upon the question asked. Questions: Do you trust your intuition? Do you notice when your intuition is right and wrong? Do you try to keep things in balance? What happens when you do not pay attention to your intuition or try to look for balance or the middle road?

Ah, happy mediums.I try to remember to trust my intuition. I get so frustrated sometimes not doing so too. I double think myself and get into so much trouble because of it. I don't always look for the middle road but I do look for balance in all things. Not always easy to find either. This was a good one, I enjoyed reading it.

So true. Learn from the past, and hope you don't repeat it.

CE- Thanks, I'm glad it was helpful. I think we have all experienced this frustration. I know for myself there are times I have not listened and kicked myself for months afterward! All we can do is learn from our past and continue to try to listen. Namaste-Anora

In my life I have always found that things seem to go wrong when I go against my intuition. That said, I've learned that I should never question my intuition and just go with my gut instinct. I know that there is a middle road and there are probably times that I should try to take that, but at this point in my life I really haven't been able to find my own way of balancing the two so that I am able to do that.

Dorann- I'm sure with time that you'll find the balance or a way to balance things. I think it's something that all of us struggle with and eventually things work out, or the scales settle so to speak. Namaste-Anora

My intuition is spot on - and then I find that it's not! Usually the person putting me right is female so I entirely endorse the concept of feminine mystery and superior guidance; especially in emotional and spiritual aspects of life.

That is very interesting that your guide on such things in life is a female. I find that on the days I am listening I do very well. On the days when I'm babbling away in the river of life not paying attention I sometimes end up stuck. Namaste-Anora

Most of the time I trust my intuition. Sometimes I am not sure what my intuition is focused on though..lol..like that bad feeling or that odd mood. I have experienced good and bad by not following it though. Makes me wonder what would have happened had I went forward with it or ignored it.

Jen- We will always have times of wondering the what ifs of life, but we can learn from these times. The more we learn to trust that gut instinct the more we work the muscle, and the better toned it becomes. That is at least how I like to reflect upon our sixth sense. It truly is a gift and the more we embrace it, the better and easier journey will be. Namaste-Anora

Namaste Anora, Going by my experiences in relation to intuitions, they were mostly correct till, some 5 years back. Now these days they are mostly wrong a 40-60 ratio where the higher is on the wrong side. I tried to figure out after reading the text above the why aspect and think that this is because of the changes in my thinking, attitude and lifestyle. Ever since I have been at home due to my illness(since 2008) I was quite sad, low and other things of this type. But now, as I am re-trying to re-construct these I find rapid changes and maybe due to these the intuitions are failing. Another factor may be that I am at the cusp of Virgo and Libra(23rd Sept) and that might be the reason of conflict within - Virgo needs perfection and Libra states - Balance can never be reached and nothing is perfect.(I read these from Linda Goodman's Book - the Sun Signs during my search for the reasons why I am always at conflict within me) - So I can say I fall in the middle road segment (hope that is correct). Regards, theSids.

Thesids- I agree that we are never perfect as that is only the aspect of the Divine. Cusps are always interesting in that what generally occurs is that you end up with the qualities of both sides, or some of one and some of another. It is helpful in understanding your nature by examining these traits. Namaste-Anora
