Hello,
I used to bake cakes and pastries and even got myself into selling cakes at school before but when my oven got damaged and since cakes is not our main dish i didn't bother myself from buying again so by now i cant imagine myself baking again and i cant remember anymore the measurements of any kinds of cake i used to bake before but one thing for sure i always love eating cakes all the time.

They say that you have to be a good eater to be a good chef. If you love cakes and buns that means you still have that thing in you. You should try to bake one more cake for me and then send it to me through email. That would be a good start over.

My grandma has that problem. I think you all should experiment and it might come back to you.

I think that it is really mad that we use to be able to make all those things over and over again, yet now we can not remember what we need or how much of what we need.Perhaps i will have to look a few things up on the internet to know what i need and how much and the temperature.

Oh, yes! I used to make home made noodles and now I don't recall the amounts or the ingredients. I used to make a wonderful banana bread and now the ingredients are never right. And the lemon bars, and brownies, and soda biscuits. Oh, yes, I certainly do know what happened. Just not doing it as often I suppose.

Hi Joystick!.
We all have sweet tooth we usually making sweet cake and snack for company our coffee or tea. But when my dad got diabetic we rarely make any more we just made it for special occasion. I think its good for us maybe by reducing sugar intake will give good benefit for our health but its not stop us to craving it sometimes especially thats special brownies.
There are also traditional food we can not made because we don't have the ingredient here so we not made it but when we visiting our hometown we usually buy a lot of herb we can not find it here and frozen it so we use it any time we need it.

I can usually remember most of the ingredients, but for the life of me I have a difficult time remembering the quantities..I think this is where the recipe book comes in handy! Or maybe we could just put in 1/2 cup of everything...you know the way Rachel Ray makes her apple crisp?

Well, I used to cook a lot of dishes that were actually yummy in the past. But due to some life style changes, I stopped cooking those types. But, still I actually cook food, but mostly high protein now.

Wow! I envy you baking from memory. I do with an open book. Could not be successful without a recipe book.
