I am talking of Rath-yatra in the city of Santiago, Chile
.The Rath-yatra festival in Puri in Orissa, India is famous all over the world, it is known as chariot festival. Rath means a chariot, over which the diets Lord Jagannatha along with His brother Balarama and sister, Subhadra are taken in a procession.
On Sunday 16 January 2011 the city of Santiago, Chile exploded in transcendental bliss. Lord Jagannatha along with His brother and sister, Balarama and Subhadra, came of out seclusion in the temple to grace the streets of Santiago with their divine presence. Hundreds of devotees and guests chanted and danced in ecstasy in the streets of Santiago along with the help of the Santiago police department, who blocked off the streets from all traffic. The parade ended in a park in Santiago's prestigious Ñuñoa district.
Is this festival observed in your place?
Have you ever taken part in the procession?
I have in my home town and also in Puri, it is so exciting, I feel blessed.
Please share your opinion and thoughts.
Thank you so much in advance.
Professor ‘Bhuwan’. .
Cheers have a lucky day ahead.

I dont think that this festival takes in our place, well I think that is also because of the religion, but since we have different religion, I would also like to share one of the festivals that we celebrate here in our place and that is the Feast of the STO.NINO, this happened last week and its not a parade anymore it has become a motorcade where we drive around the city and whats great about this is that since Nino's are known to love candies, we throw otu candies on the bystanders and my son really enjoyed this feast.

They took the deities in a 'Rath' on that day, hence the name Rathyatra

This is not a festival that we celebrate in my area. In fact, this the first time that I've heard of this particular festival. I can tell you that I think that it is a neat festival and it is something that I think I would enjoy having the opportunity to experience once in my life just because I like to experience festivals and events from cultures that are different from my own. I like that the "godlike" intermingle with ordinary people.

No, the festival is not observed here in Wisconsin, USA
Never have taken part in anything even close to that..
The closest I have gotten is guiding people into singing along with songs at a fair..
Sounds absolutely wonderful.. But I'd be crying happy tears all the way through it probably :)
