Let's yell at the computer to try and get it to work!

I remember I had all of the problems I had with my old computer, before I had to get my new one, that works great(for the moment). I think that there were times where there was something wrong with it. Me being me, I tried to fix it. I did everything I could think of, and that can be a lot given my knowledge. Then I resorted to the old standby that many people use where anything stops working. Lets shout at the computer. Actually, one time when I shouted at it, the computer booted right up. I kid you not. Kind of cool but also kind of creepy. Still, technically speaking it does not work. But that does not stop us from doing it. Do you shout at your computer or even try and reason with it calmly, when you've tried everything and it is still not working?

LOLShouting at a non-living thing is really weird. But honestly, whenever the display of my computer doesn't work again, I'll talk to the Central Processing Unit of the Computer. LOL I might say, "Why are you doing this to me?", "Aren't we friends?", "I am always with you all the time, so why do this?". LOL that was absolutley weird.

I think its weird too because I do in fact do it. And if I do something, that does fill criteria number one of being weird. But who wants to be normal. What's the fun in that. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

No, I have a few things that I try, and then I go tattle on the computer and tell my son. He usually can get it whipped into shape, sometimes it makes him want to pull his hair out, but he does it. I do talk back to the self check check outs because they talk to me. I do not always agree with them either.

The self check outs, those things are annoying. Just because I moved a bag a half of an inch, I get, "please do not remove items from the pricing area." Really makes me want to slam my head into something over and over again. Given that I do my shopping a lot of times early in the morning, I am forced to deal with these things. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

He he. Yeah, why not when it gets frustrating? Just take it out on your computer! I do it, i don't shout at it but bang it instead, okay not too hard so that my laptop hard disk would crash but yeah i bang it, demanding it to work properly. Sometimes it just gets so frustrating that it's all too natural of you to scold your computer.

I have never been inspired towards violence towards a computer. At least the physical kind. Or people for that matter. Still I just know that if I attack the computer, it will work even worse. So I just stick with yelling. Thankfully have not have to do this for a while. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well and have a nice day and thanks.

LOL, although I am very computer hardware and software savvy, there are times when it decides to stall and the first thing I do is scream it it as if it were a child who did something wrong. If after several attempts I can get it back to working order, literally I want to take it and toss it across the room. Good thing it is only the computer and not a child. LOL Weird really how at times when I am ready to give it, it is almost as if it were smiling and or laughing back as it starts right up and like if it were making fun of me. LOL

Sometimes I wonder if we're using the computer or if the computer is using us. The thought seems absurd but I think that there are times where it does. I do know that at least one time with my old computer, there was one time where I threatened to replace it and it started behaving. Or perhaps I was imagining it. Or was I? As someone who works with computers, you would think that I would think its absurd, but really, it doesn't seem too far fetched. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Well yeah that's what caused me to buy the new PC that I mentioned in the first post. And no problems yet. At least I hope that there will not be any problems. Still computers will be computers. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

My co-workers pointed out that I clench my teeth and I start whispering "Die, die, come on, die already". It's pretty spooky, apparently, and it freaks them out But that's for the computer in the office, I'm a lot more considerate with the appliances at home... and yes, I try to reason with all appliances, not just the computer. Just a few hours ago I was begging the refrigerator to show me where I stashed the milk box, 'cause I couldn't see it.

Okay I feel a lot better about my sanity right now. Reasoning with appliances, really that's after I've tried everything, after hours of hours of effort in vain, in fact, everything twice a lot of the time. Or we could skip straight to the stage of yelling depending on the day. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.
