Heated Arguments

I have had many encounters with people who flamebait, purposefully making outlandish statements and arguments to provoke other posters and by doing so, are just desperately begging for attention. I tend to stay away from online "word fights" because I think fighting online is childish and generally worthless. The bottomline is, heated arguments make me sick. Have you ever been in a heated argument here in mylot? What did you do?

No, I've never been involved in a heated argument online and I've also never been involved in a heated argument on the internet. The reason that I've never been involved in this kind of an argument is because I really don't feel like there is any kind of a point in doing something like that. Instead, to me it seems rather stupid to be involved in online arguments because there is really no effective way to resolve those kinds of arguments.

I've gotten into a few where some know it all got insulting. I usually just prove them wrong then sit back & laugh at them. Check out the second post of this discussion of mine for an example. http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2475193.aspx?p=1#2_22063320 ( not a referal link )

I tried to stay respectful and when I felt I couldn't I turned off the member so I didn't get their responses any longer. Heated arguments are no fun no matter where they are. They are also exhausting emotionally. I don't think any reason warrants online fights or arguments. I think any time it can't be done with respect then it needs to be left alone.

No, haven't been on an online fight. It'd be fun though. It amuses me how people tend to get angry just by other people's words.

I believe I have somewhere, maybe when I first started Mylot. I think it was somethng over the bad habit of cursing, when having a casual conversation. I read through what the poster said, and me being me, chimed in with my "two cents". Some random, young girl came back and said something along the lines that people who use those words are ignorant. I flew off the handle. I don't remember what I said exactly but I remember not being nice when I flew off the handle.
