To those of you who have attended colleges, what were your experiences like when registering and admitting to school? Did you have a hard time? When I attended this one college many years ago, to register for classes, I had to get to campus before 5 am since classes were first come first serve basis. It was very unorganized and even after waiting in line for over 2 hours, you never knew if you'd get the classed you wanted. I applied to another college online, and they made you pay for the class already just to be on the wait-list! And to get your refund if you didn't get to crash that class, you'd have to go to the admissions on campus, wait in line and then, petition for your refund!

Well, one of the pain in the necks in the beginning of every semester is the lines. I hate lines becuase I always feel that I am wasting time standing on one. What makes me more mad is when there is an empty counter or cubicle can be used to shorten the line. I had no problem with lines before when I attended a local school but when I went to university the lines are virtually impossible to contend. The population is bigger which also means the line is longer. Also, other people are not in a considerate moos when they are in a line and usually cut just to make them first and have their business transact faster.

Man, I hate lines too but even worse are cutters! A university should be more organized!

Goodness...that would have maybe swayed my enthusiasm a bit. When I enrolled..I was trying to get in to the classes that were starting within a week. I had to get my transcripts sent to the school from across state. You would think that a fax wouldn't take very long but a day before my first class and three phone calls later..they finally made it. Stressful.

Yes, it is pretty stressful, especially if the school is pretty populated and you can never get to anyone who has answers. The parking is so bad here too, good thing there's classes I wanted online.

When I was a Freshman, they had a pre-registration thing, and we got to go the week before and get our classes. And actually I rarely had a problem with getting a class, though I did have to show up there the first day, and hope enough people dropped so that I could get in.

Wow that sounds like quite a dreadful experience. When I attended college we actually receive early registration each semester so I did everything online. Reading your discussion makes me think that the few bumps I experience among the way were nothing compared to yours. Outside of maybe a class or two later being canceled I do not recall any havoc or disorganization. Almost makes me think that in your situation students almost want to give up, as although considered adult during the early college years how many were actually willing to go through all that, or I suppose the truly dedicated students.

I didn't know about the way they 'organized' the registration in that school until I was already admitted and had paid! So, was pretty much stuck with it! I wonder if they changed the system now after years has passed.
