Do you wait and save? Or burrow and buy it right away?

Well, at the moment, I am confused if I would buy a new laptop but then I need to save for a few months to be able to afford it. But, then I can burrow and buy it with in a few weeks? Which would you do?

Hello Jacob. After reading the replies written before me I tend to agree with them. We have become so impatient to get what we want. we want what we want and we want it right now. I hate owing money to any one. So unless your present computer is giving you trouble or a really great deal that won't be around for long save up for the lap top. You will be much happier in the long run.

Since that is the case then I would look for the best deal and get it financed if possible.

Well, I want to replace my current laptop with a Macbook pro. And financing it is actually from my parents.

It depends on the condition of the laptop you have right now actually. If its a pretty old one and hangs up now and then (just like my old lappy) you better get a new one. Burrowing money is not actually an issue over here but make sure that you will return it on time. And laptop is like a big asset so do not make any compromise with config for you to regret later on it. Happy mylotting!

Oh, so now its upto you actually. Whether you wanna wait till your old laptop stops working or you just wanna get new one now only. Just see if you can arrange money now or just wait for few months. It all depends on you. You can carry on with your old laptop for few more months just to make enough money for getting a new laptop rather than borrowing it from someone else

Well, I am thinking the same as well. I might want to wait a little more before buying a new one. I plan though to buy a Macbook.

Hi, you mean you have not yet got enough money for your laptop? Well, if i were you, i won't choose borrow. Try to live more economically and you will shorten the time of waiting. You know, borrowing is really a big habit. We can buy a house or car with instalment plans, but we should try to refrain from borrowing when we buy some small items. Because it is really a bad habit. So my advice is: if you are not desperately need the laptop right now, then you'd better wait; if you really need it for your job or life, then borrow money to buy it. But any time you need borrow, try to think twice.

Well, yeah that is what I am thinking also. It would be better if I wait, for several reasons it would allow me to probably get a better model which might come out soon.

Well, I think it is entirely up to you. If you need the laptop right away and you have someone to borrow money from, then I think there is no problem with such for as long as you can pay. But if you do not need the laptop right away, then I guess it would be better to save money and from there buy the laptop. Besides, if you wait a little longer, there is a chance that the price will go down. I believe that you are familiar that almost every month prices of this kind of products tends to go down considering that new designs come out from now and then.

It is probably better if you wait and save. Then you won't have to worry about paying anything back, or anything like that. I think that, for purchases like a computer, it is better to wait and save.

True, it is better to wait and save. I can still have a few months more of usage of my current laptop though. I hope I could still get the promotion they are doing though.

Definitely wait and save. I hate borrowing money because that money needs to be paid back, and im very forgetful. It also doesnt look very good if you keep borrowing - whether you pay back the person or not. It just makes you look like you're not good with money. I suggest you wait and save, you never know - a better / cheaper laptop might crop up in the mean time. Or you might change your mind.

Well, this is what is making my decision important. But, as of now, my current laptop is just like a table top. Hence, I don't have anything to use for presentations, word documents, and even surfing the internet. I am currently just able to use the internet via my sister's notebook which isn't there to use all the time.

I would prefer to wait and save up the money first and that is usually how I do it when I want to buy something expensive. When I save up the money first I don't have to worry about returning the money, and I prefer to it that way. On the other hand it depends on the situation and it depends if I really need the thing that I want to buy. I would consider borrowing money for things like a computer that I really need for my work or for my studies. If it will be very difficult to manage without a new computer I might borrow the money, but I would try to avoid that situation if I can.

Thanks for your advise. I might just save up for a month more if my laptop won't die on me anytime soon.

If you can wait then wait and save to but it. Burrowing money may make additional expenses if there will be interest. Paying cash is more of a saving than having it paid with your credit card. But if you want it soon, and borrowing will not result to paying interest, then have it with borrowed cash!

Well, if I do borrow some money I would probably borrow from my parents. I do not usually borrow from friends or from the bank. Well, I have never tried it anyways.

well, for me, i would save money first and buy if i have it. But if you are eager to buy a new laptop and can afford to pay the amount you will borrow, there is no harm on borrowing one. As long as you can repay the person.

Well, If I do burrow money I would burrow from my parents though. I am not into burrowing from other people. So, I might have to wait and just be a good lad, parents my have mercy and buy me a new one?

It is better to wait and save. You can make yourself more responsible by saving first. If you want a laptop, you would work hard for it. Borrowing another might make others think that you are dependent. I am telling you that having something you really want by working hard for it is a very unforgettable thing that will happen in your life. I could become a milestone of your success.

Well, I am still in school, I use the laptop to make reports, documents, and presentations. I do not earn but only save up my allowance to get one. So any tips?

There are alot of credit card that gives you a 0% interest free if you purchase anything that is expensive. I don't know if it applies in your country, but it does in my country. It is advisable to save your money first. Borrowing money would become a habit later on.

Well, I am currently still studying. I do not own a credit card but, only a debit card. So, but we do have that 0% installment payments thing.
