Life in the trenches : how to survive under a MDA (a MyLot Discussion Attack) ?

After a week of DDoS attacks blocking many sites, I am right now under a MDA, a MyLot Discussion Attack : On the right of my home page the "discussions my friends started" shows actually only one user name. I can't PM a tranquillizer, and I don't know if I am ethically authorized to begin ceasefire talks. I have just put a "notification is off" for this friend and it does not change anything . Some friends are starting many interesting discussions every day : I never had to complain and I try to find at least an interesting one for me to respond, to show them my interest. I want to be still able to respond to my old friends at myLot, and I am fishing in my emails now. Is there something else to do than to suppress this member from my friends list ? Have you been under a MDA ? How do you manage your life in myLot trenches ? Somebody has an idea for a new "anti-MDA" weapon to suggest at the staff at myLot ? Help ! I need Missile Defense Advices for a MyLot Discussion Attack !

I know exactly how you feel but you put it so erm... gently! I decided to keep notifers all set to 'on' (unless myLot goblins go and set them to 'off' without me realising like happened recently ). I have a huge list of names on my list and some are very productive but no fears! I created a seperate folder in my email for them and they ALL go there. Then I fish among them, responding to some, deleting others and some remain unattended (one day I will be on the pension and have much more time and might get back to them then, who knows? ). That way I have not had to delete anyone and I am not inundated with them either because they are off the beaten track so to speak.

I will not duplicate but instead say two birds of feather flock together.

The flock seems to be in several of the same places today too

Oh no! You didn't start again! I was beginning to think that it might be the same 'friend' so I checked your list... and then mine... and now I am certain I wonder why myLot call them 'friends' because those that act like that are not really being very friendly at all are they? I am sure that there are many more who would vote for that too if we were ever given the choice - but we know that will never happen so we shall just have to take it in our stride and deal with it as best we can. Being veterans has so many responsabilities too I guess *sighs*

Once or twice I just wrote as my response that he or she flood my email. Like you I would be able to see what my friends discussion is about but sometimes it is just too much. I would scanned the title and delete if I am not interested in it.

Hello jennyze, The response given by mysdianait -- a sub-folder for these emails -- is enough to solve the problem for emails, but it seems that there is no solution for the front page. It was good when I was able to use the home page to respond to some discussions. I am sure that some discussions of this friend are good, but honestly too much is too much...

How do you create a sub folder? Sorry, I am not good at this kind of thing.

notifications - trouble with spams
Hello topffer, COme to think of it, i haven't check my email for a very long while though. but i admit, when ever i checked the email, i tend to have a hard time choosing the best topic to respond to. some topics are relevant, too funny, too intelligent, or probably too insane. though there are some topics that i want to respond, it's just that i don't have time since there are other things that i do besides mylotting. as for notifications, that's fine compare to notifications of facebook

Hello LetranKnight, I have never turned notifications off before, and I was disappointed because they are not turned off on the screen. I needed a filter to don't see this member during a few days... I agree that we have too much inspiring discussions at myLot to respond to all. To make a choice we have not to be under the bombing and the fog of the war created by a new "friend" . I enjoy myLot but there are months where I am quite absent and have no time to respond at more than 2 or 3 discussions/week . Thank you to have take the time to stop in this discussion.

Hi topffer, history taught us that trench warfare always ended in a blo*dy stalemate, haha.. just like in the Western front , good luck on you search for a revolutionary weapon.

Hello louievill, I worked in a town where was born or lived -- I don't remember -- a benefactor of mankind who has his bust in the wedding hall -- maybe not the best place, except if you consider the marriage as a graveyard -- at the town hall. His name was Guillotin. So I know what a revolutionary weapon is . It exists at myLot and is called "Delete" in your friends list, but I have never deleted a friend and don't want to begin. I am looking for more a more sweet response, a sort of civil defense until the bomber becomes more mature in this community and can be truly a friend . A new sub-folder for these emails, suggested by mysdianait, is a good solution until that moment.

Not only Guillotin did not created the guillotine, but he asked also during all his life to change the name : he was a benefactor of mankind and a humble man . Would have you preferred to keep the first name "louison", which means "little louise", louie ? at "virus vault" : mysdiana has always a solution for anything about myLot. Starting this discussion was not bad too : I have been deleted and I am ready if it happens again.

Ya but Monsieur Guillotine just thought that it was the most humane way to go during his time so he became a proponent, no matter how grotesque it may seem at present. BTW, he had nothing to do with the design or the construction of that machine, but so sadhis name was attached to it, even relatives had to change their surname. Back to the main topic, yeah I agree that mysdianait's virus vaultsorry bout that,I mean sub-folder seems to be the best solution, I really admire her because she always comes up with something quite practical.
