6 months and 4 days wait and I got my cheque from Finance.

Hi Friends,
Some of you may remember that I went to Chicago and NY for some work and came back in July 2010. Since currency of the two nations is not same, US has got $ where we Indian use Rupee so there was some settlement to be done from the finance department. I had already submitted all the related bills and Citi Bank Credit card in the same week I joined India office. Till that day I have been writing emails, making phone calls to finance department to settle the money for the trip and everytime I got a new date. I raised this concern with the HR head and Head of the operation but still did not get the money soon.
Today after 6 months and 4 days I got the cheque, it is too late. Usually it takes not more than a week to settle things but our finance department took 6 months to do same. I can still not believe that finance department can be so lazy to process settlement of the employees.
I am happy that finally got it but same time feel very bad about other who came back before me and still waiting for their cheque.
Did you ever experience such delay, I do not think so ?

My father worked in Tanzania and Zambia. These two countries and many other African nations are short of forex because they are not very well developed industrially. Their exports are limited to mining products, and other food items. In view of this, they do not often have monies remaining with them. Dad received his remuneration years after he left the two countries. The monies were left in what was referred to as "pipeline". No interest. :) By the time monies were received, the currency value had diminished considerably, leaving pretty much nothing in our hands. :)

that was too long. It was a genuine reason but in my case finance department is careless about everything. Other departments are not that great but this one involves money so it is very important to settle things early. I heard finance was asking some bills from other guy after 6 months and he replied that I can not give you any bills after 6 months do whatever you want. He warned the responsible person about legal options
