Our weather has been so iffy & i don't get out when the roads are bad. I got a road report from one of my friends that i go to church with so i got to go sunday morning. They were predicting more bad weather & i needed sugar so i stopped by the grocery on my way home. Now mind u sugar was the most important thing. I ended up spending $105 , got home & guess what?? no &*&^^&*^&*^&sugar. I was sooooooo aggravated w/myself for spending too much to start with & forgetting the sugar put the icing on that cake. Do y'all do crazy things like that? is it my age? lol. I think i lost what relegion i had gotten at church.Ah, these golden years 'ain't' cracked up to what they are suppose to be.

You are NOT alone! I used to go into stores to get one small thing and come out spending $100 but I didn't get what I wanted/needed. Duh! I finally had to force myself to not go to specific stores because I couldn't stop spending! Target, Walmart, Old Navy--I even moved away because these stores were within shouting distance of my home. Don't even get me started on Dollar Tree--I had THREE within a 15 minute drive! And it has nothing to do with age--I get distracted easily by shiny objects, lol!

Loved your response, thanks. I have never been much of a shopper but have always had a weakness for grocery shopping. I like to keep a well stocked pantry & hate it when i want to cook something & don't have everything i need. Have a good one.

Good morning, dear JO! I guess the only way we can "polish" up the Golden Years is to win the Lottery...and have some-one else do the shopping for us...LOL! Forgetting an essential...or even the shopping list is a constant for me, so when I am heading for the "big smoke" (city) I have a list on the table to make sure that I am taking my list...LOL! As you know, forgetting something for me is a very costly mistake (another 5 hour Ferry ride and 50 bucks--not including gas) OWCH! I am thinking that 2011, isn't going to be a great year; on my second cold...I am NOT receiving "myLot" notifications for discussions...AND after spending over 1100 dollars on a new "hard-drive & a technician" here....my computer has NEW and BAD issues, so I either call in another technician (of course, from the City) or just bite the bullet and buy a new one! I think I will post a discussion to find out if anyone knows what the dreaded "blue page" means. Everyone I tell it to, says "oh no, not the Blue Page"....and when I ask them what that means, they say;"it's bad news!" It really annoys me that I an NOT get notifications, tho! Thinking of you often, LUV & HUGZ!

Thanks for reminding me, Jo. The lottery, the big one is tonight; Lotto Max and it is 50 million...gotta get me a ticket, as T.J. gave me a ticket at Xmas, and I won a free one with it. It just really irks me that this computer has had sooooooooo many issues, and it is just 3 years old..NOW! Watching the news the other night...they say there are 147 known Rhino viruses, so guess I have 145 yet to go this year. Yikes! Luv & HUGZ!

pergammano I had a discussion on my blue page about two years ago and we found that the AVG I had for virus protection was clashing with the new email client thingy my son had downloaded here. we did trial and error and when he put in Aviva virus protection no more horrid blue page. so check if you have downloaded some new soft war e and the anti virus p;rotection is causing the new program to clash. we tried other things but once we changed the anti virus the blue screen was gone never to returen.

Whenever I'm asked to go shopping, I carry to shopping list that has the main items I want to buy. I usually get them main items first unless they are frozen or extremely heavy, you should also try to not bring so much money, maybe $25 should be enough, this ensures that you don't go overboard with your spending.

Begs the question: How'd you manage to ice the cake without sugar? Forgetting stuff at the store happens to all of us at one time or another. Sometimes I can't remember why I went into the store in the first place and don't buy anything at all.

hi antiqueLady I went to the store to get the ingredients for shrimp scampi as I wanted to try out a recipe for making it myself. I knew I could buy it ready made and the brand I got was really so good but the recipe made it sound easy to make.I got all the ingredients save the shrimp as I wanted to get it last and get home as I had to take the bus but would be home in fifteen minutes .I met a fellow worker I had not see since I was retired and we chatted. then I checked out my groceries caught the bus at once and got home. I put away things and then realized the one thing I had not bought the schrimp. I had butter and all the other things the recipe called for. well since I was on my own , my son working late, I walked the block to trader joe's and lucked out.they had a sale on large shrimp; so I bought more than i intended to but could freeze the rest. so that time maybe I got a better deal at Trader Joes. I was 79 then.there is a saying I think is sort of true. OLD AGE IS NOT FOR SISSIES.

Thank you, dear Hatley, for your reply to this post, regarding my "blue page!" It gave me a really good starting point! It is sooooo strange, everytime I mention to some-one that I know has some computer smarts...it is like I HAVE the dreaded virus...NOT my computer! I will try and look up your discussion as there may be more good points! I have since chatted with my son...and banned him from down-loading anything more...in November he downloaded "malware bytes" and I am wondering if that is the culprit. I think we can add to your saying; LIFE is not for sissies...and if you make it to old age, we won the battle! Once again, thank you for your help, and Cheers!

I dont think its you age. To be human is to error. We all do stuff like that. I keep a notebook in my purse. In the notebook isa list of things i need from the store. Grocery and all else. If not i would forget. I keep it in my purse or else i would forget the list. Ive never forgotten my purse yet. Even if i only need to get 3 things and keep repeating the three things sooner rather than later one thing would be forgotten. As soon as i know i need somthing i get the notebook out and write it down. So far this method has worked good for me.

Hi, lady....Yeah, I've done this more than once. I've been champion impulse shopper over the course of the past few years. However, the economy and my limited funds have sorta curbed that behavior now. I take a list and refuse to shop without one. Have been known to come all the way back to the house to get my forgotten list. The cost of the extra gas to do that would be way less than what I'd spend without the list.

Hey ANTIQUELADY! I do know exactly what you mean, only too well! I will "make my list", make sure I know exactly what I need and still come home without what I "really needed" and it usually is sugar! I hate that! I always spend waaaaay more than I plan and still forget what I really went out for. In fact tonight my bf is stopping off after work and it will be after 10:00PM so he won't "really" want to shop (he never does anyway)! He is mainly supposed to get "cat food and litter". But, as long as he is there already I thought why not get some other things....wish me luck....

Don’t you worry ANTIQUELADY because things like that have been happening to me for years! I never, ever go shopping without a list for the very reason you forgot your sugar! Isn’t it aggravating when the one thing you forget is the very thing you needed the most? I am still not so sure it has anything with the golden years…LOL…

Oh Jo, having one of 'those' days, aren't you? I can feel your aggravation sweetie. I really do. We've all done the very same thing some point in our lives so you're not alone. It's being HUMAN! lol A human with a brain that wants to work half the time. UGH. Do you have any friends or neighbors that are going to the store that maybe can pick up a bag for you? If I were nearby, I'd be more than happy to get it for you myself but sorry that I'm not. Thought you'd like to know that I'm still sick and is why I haven't been on mylot in so long. I've been sick since the 2nd of January and it seems to have no end in sight. I've been to the doctor to be tested and as I thought, the infection is still with me so I got another round of antibiotics. I see my doctor again tomorrow but I know I'm still not well. I'm better than I was but still not well as one should be. It's so frustrating because I'm so sick and tired of being sick and tired. Sigh. But know that I haven't forgotten you!! I promise you that!! Big hugs to you!!

HaHa, I was just mentioning the so-called "Golden Years" in another discussion the other day. I said whoever made up that title ought to be slapped upside their head, lol! Don't feel bad in the least. I was just shopping the other day with my daughter and I was suppose to get brussel sprouts because I had a taste for them. Did I get them, oh no, forgot all about it and I even had a list, so duh to me. And I forgot my favorite ice cream too..whatever. See, you're not alone, and yes, I do stuff like this all the time. I blame it on "too much stuff on my mind" all the time because I can't think of any other good excuse, lol!

Ha!ha!ha! When I do crazy things like that, my son would tease me and say "Mom! is it a sign of old age!" Ha!ha!ha! Maybe yes, I believe that as we age our memory gets a bit poor. But lest you get discouraged, you should know that it does not happen to both of us only but even to many others. And not only the older ones but even younger ones can do such crazy things.

oh, dear... That also happened to me a couple of times, and those times existed because I forgot to make my list.:( I often have a trip to the grocery store nearby because of some stuff that I need. I am confident that I can always remember what I really am needing to buy so I proceeded without making a list. Then, I picked up other stuff, too, only to find out when I get home that the most important thing and the very reason for such trip to the grocery , was not included among the stuff I bought.. Good thing the grocery store is just a few blocks away from my place. Hey, I don't think it has something to do with age, dear. I am just 36 , not too old to forget. How I see this is just a plain of an issue re being organize. Nothing else.
