Hi Aps! It clearly shows that you are sitting idle.............lol! Had you been doing some activity, you would not have felt like sleeping. It is, therefore, essential that we keep ourselves busy in one thing or the other. Whenever this happens with me either in office or at any other place, I get busy in some activity even if it is a non-productive activity. I do not feel like sleeping at my work place. I have felt that remaining inactive will induce 'sleep' not only in office, but anywhere we are sitting. You may please talk to someone on phone, it will keep you awake. You may go to the wash room and sprinkle some cold water on your eyes, it will make you feel refreshed. Alternatively, you may go for a cup of some hot beverage to keep yourself awake. I know after a hectic and busy schedule one feels tired, still you cannot afford to sleep in office. Have a great evening!

Ha Ha Ha.......you are very clever Deepak.....I was actually sitting idle..but now that I started this discussion and got busy replying to responses, I am already awake..Usually this does not happen to me, but yesterday night could not sleep properly, I am awake since 3:30 am as my son was playing a game on pc. and I was happy to see his excitement...so may be because of that. Now I am fine and soon going home. Thanks for your reply.

Hi. Try walking around a bit. If you can, jog in your place. But the work you do prevents you from doing those things, just drink coffee. A caffeine boost would get you through those two hours.

Yep, I know how to wake you up real good. Have your boss walk by just as you nod off. It will be a shocker! Seriously, I know what you mean. I experience the same thing. Usually it will help a lot to get up and move around. Go to restroom, get a cup of coffee, or take a quick visit to a friend in another part of the building. If your job does not allow you to leave your post, then energy drink, I guess. Maybe you could stand up and stretch.

Ha ha ha....actually my boss did make a round, and my eyes did open wide for a moment, but when he left, they closed again, Yes I think I will try to get something to drink. Since I am at the reception , I cannot leave my place...but surely will try to stretch when no one is looking. Thanks for your reply.

Just a thought but maybe get back to work instead of being here at MyLot. That should keep you awake doing whatever your job is. That would aslo show the boss that you like your job and want to do the best you can at it instead of them paying you to be online chatting and posting. Just a thought and my opinion.

Are you awake now or have fallen asleep? When I am too sleepy in Office I just take a walk around and then have a nice hot cup of coffee. I also keep some chocolates in my bag which I eat when I feel drowsy.

I suggest you that you drink some energy drink. It will help you boost your energy temporarily. Also try eating chocolates. It can give your body some heat to preserve your stored energy. Being very sleepy was so often happens to me when i was a High School student. I will wake up at six o'clock, go to school, and before the dismissal, I will play basketball. I was a varsity in those times that is why I should not be absent. And then after I get home, I will do my bunch of homeworks, some chores and go to church for worshiping. In my religion, we should worship two times a week. It will be either Wednesday or Friday and Saturday or Sunday. That would really make my energy run out. I am just buying some chocolates or drinking some energy drinks sometimes.

Hello Blacksun310........Thanks for your reply. I know chocolates and energy drinks are full of sugar........but I think there is no harm in having them once in a blue moon, when you are really seeing white moon at this hour of the day.. Thanks, I will try it and remember it.

Hi Apsara, Though this discussion is 4 days old, but to me it seems eternal coz I suffer from the same sleepiness regularly LOL... afternoon 2pm to 4pm is the worst time of the day in office. I feel sooooooooooooo sleepy and then my head of its own, bends towards the desk and then I wake up with a start...only to doze off again!!! I don’t think there’s any remedy for this... I’ve even splashed water on my face, taken a walk, done mylotting...nothing helps. It seems like the body’s own mechanism...after 4/4:30 I OK again, don’t feel sleepy that much. However, on days when I have too much work pressure, I don’t feel sleepy and time just flies off LOL...so maybe keep ourselves busy is the only solution.

Hello apsara, Means you didn’t sleep well in last night that is the only reason you feel sleepy in office hours. Another reason may be you are free in office, if you are busy then your brain won’t disturb you with the balance sleep. In winter season, I feel the same when sitting with my heater on. When I feel to sleep suddenly I switch off the heater and get up from the seat do something to keep me awake.

Let your head slam on the table. For sure, you'll be awake after the impact. Yeah, I've been there. I used to sleep late because of video games and surfing the net. Haven't learned my lesson even to this day.

I know something will keep you awake...but I hope it doesn't get you the sack. Do what you are doing now. Log in to myLot and discuss. Look at the earnings and you will be motivated to keep awake, maybe even till midnite. When it happens, don't complain to me about insomnia. OK?

Drink a lot of coffee and energy drinks. That's what I did when I was working on a graveyard shift at a hospital. It kept me going but my mind was all empty because we really have to rest.

I know whenever I get tired I do the same as has been suggested: Stand up and do stretch exercises, go to the restroom and splash cold water in my face, and drink coffee or power drinks. Also, if you so tired so often at work, think about your nightly sleeping habits also. Are you getting enough sleep in the first place? Maybe you go to bed too late or don't get at least 7 -8 hours. If your body is "sleep deprived", not matter how good you feel, you WILL feel tired and sleepy if you are a work and aren't getting enough mental stimulation to keep you alert.

Falling asleep is not something you should fool around with. You may want to consult a doctor about this. You may want to check for any kind of sleeping disorder you might have acquired.

Many of us experience periods of extreme drowsiness from time to time...sometimes it's not getting enough quality sleep, sometimes it's mental or emotional stress, and sometimes it's vitamin deficiencies. For years I drove truck over the road and in that profession being alert at all times is extremely important. I found that stretching helps, a small change in routine, and most of all vitamin B12 in tablet form. B12 is a natural energizer, no sugars, no caffeine, so no sudden excess of energy nor a sudden drop, but rather a nice flow of alertness that lasts for hours. I used to take B12 tablets that one can purchase at any health food store, or even at Walmart in the 250mg size which was adequate to meet my own needs, and did not have to be taken daily to receive the benefits from such a dose. A daily exercise program can help a person also to maintain a more even alertness cycle throughout the day. Dual benefits from that one girls.
