It is very near to Chinese New Year and in China, thousands of people do not get to buy the bus ticket to go back to their home town to celebrate the festival with their family. Due to that, there are this group of people who traveled 1300km with motorbike and they spent 5 days 4 nights and finally they reached home. Throughout the journey, they were had meet the snow storm and few accidents. They have to bear with the cold weather along the journey. It was a really tough journey for them. What will you do if you couldn't get the ticket to go back to your hometown for an important festival. Will you do the same if you are in their situation?

The same thing happened just a few days back in our town, when we had the harvest festival.Harvest festival is the biggest festivals for us Tamils, and people who were in the town wanted to go back to their villages. All the trains, and buses were jampacked and there was not even space in the foot board. Some of the private carries even charged more than twice the usuall amount for the ticket, and people were ready to pay even three or four times the charges. Some people travelled in their motor cycles.of course the distance was not 1300kms, but just half of it.The big plus point was the weather was perfect, and the roads were quite good. I do not know whether I will travel in a motor cycle for 5 days and 4 nights.I do not think it is possible for me.

Hi! I have saw the documentary about transport in India, the trains were full of people and some people even climb on top of the trains' roof top, and many peoples are hanging on the door while the train was travel at high speed, that is really dangerous, what if someone accidentally fall down, I doubt that he can survive.

Yes, if somebody falls, it is curtains form them. But even then people travel in this way because of their impatience.Life is quiet cheap in India.

I think our transportation department shall feel ashamed to it. It is sad that the poeple can't go home because they can't buy the tickets. And it is worse that they go home by motorcycle. It is dangerous. It is a long journey and the weather is not good. I am not sure what I will do if I am in their situation. Perhaps I have to find another time to go home. I love China

I think it is hard for your government to manage such a situation in a short period with the huge number of people in your country. I think they will learn from this experience and will find another alternative to curb with this problem, I have saw the news that you country police have made their effort to escort motorcyclists to go back to their hometown to make sure they are safely reach home, this is a really good move. My applause for them!

hi yspmyl no I am much too old and crippled up and besides I liv e in the US where we do not really have festivals like that. I am sure that those who suffered still were thrilled to finally be back home to celebrate with loved ones. I enjoyed having my son spend New Years Eve with me evn though he could not stay til mid night. So no if I could not get a ticket back to my home town two thousand miles from here I would just stay here and phone back homne to nmt old fri ends. thats all my health would allow me to do.

Hi Hatley, I know it is hard for a person to travel long distance when is old. I always try to travel a lot before I can't move any further when I am old. When there is the only festival that every family member will come back and gather, many people will just do anything to go home regardless of the distance or weather. For me, I will feel sad if I couldn't join my family for the festival.

Hi yspmyl, I did drive and cover a distance of 1200km on my bike in 2003. I traveled from Allahabad to Bhubaneswar by road, not because of problems in getting tickets but because I wanted to cover the distance by road and driving. It was rainy season and I had to make stoppages and halts many a times that delayed me... and I completed the journey spread over 4 days of driving. But it was real real fun and a great experience.

Wow! You are really amazing, I might consider to drive that long distance if I were you. The longest distance I have drove on my bike is around 300km, it was when I was studying in another city. I drove home every weekend and drove back to university the next day, it took me about 3 hours for the single journey. I actually quite like to travel this way where I can see things and scenery along the journey, that is really fun.

Of course we have to go for the other alternative if we can not get the bus ticket to celebrate the Chinese New year festival at our hometown. I have never traveled by motorcycle for the long journey. As long as the motorcyclists concern the road safety very much, I think traveling by motorcycle should be very pleasure. The motorcyclists can have their own flexible schedule in their journey.

Yeah, you are right, when we are force to do something and due to desperation, we will do something that out of expectation. I believe that is how the situation of those China man feel. It will be really nice and fun to ride on bike if the weather is good but imagine if you have to drive in the freezing cold weather and occasionally you have to fight with the snow storm...phew..that is really scary.

That is pretty hard to endure. I don't think I would be able to do the same thing. I guess I will just be staying instead of going back. Those are pretty brave people. I admire them.
