Hi everyone! I just had to share this. My childhood friend ,who lives in the US, is in Chile for a visit. She came 2 days ago but I only saw her today. We made the evening stretch. She came in time to go with me to help my eldest daughter to retrieve her car that was being repaired. Then we went to see my mother. When we came back I noticed that my daughter had used my car (the 2 days she did not have hers) but, as children do, she did NOT check the gas! We went for gasoline and as it was near my youngest daughter´s home, we went there so that she could see my youngest granddaughter. The next time she comes, we will have time to chat, I hope. This was more like a maraton. Fortunatly she is staying for a little over 3 weeks. Do you have friends out of town or out of the country so as to have those visits where you feel all time is too little?

I don't have friend visiting from other places, but I think my brother fits what you are describing since I have been back in the US. He comes to see me when he is able to get transportation. In fact he came out today and brought me some food since we are due for about 15 inches of snow over the next couple of days. He goes crazy trying to take care of his family needs and taking care of me as well. Originally he was going to wait until Wednesday to come because I was supposed to have an appointment with the gyn/onc that day, but they called to change the appointment to next Monday (probably due to the impending weather) so he came by today to bring me food and a birthday cake (it was my birthday today). I hope the rest of the time with your friend is a little more relaxing. Have a great day!

How amazing that your brother would bring you food for the storm. That is a great brother! Sounds like my neck of the woods, we are expecting about the same snowfall this week too. Have fun and stay warm!

I´m so glad you have such a wonderful brother! In times of trouble, having a good close family can even help your immune system and give your body the energy to fight back. Happy birthday dear and may you have many more!

Thanks jodylee and marguicha, You are both right. He is great in times of need. There are times that I wish he would disappear, but this is not one of them. jodylee, where are you from? I am in Missouri. I hope the storm doesn't treat you too bad. I will probably stay inside the whole time. Have a great day!!!

My friend just came back for a two month visit. He goes to Norway and lives for the better part of the year and he comes back one or twice. He is a good friend and never tells us when he will be arriving so we are always surprised. It is wonderful to have him around as he brings so many new stories and exciting news. Enjoy your visit with your friend!

That's the way I feel when my sister comes, and of course she has to see a lot of other friends when she's here too!

I know what you mean marguicha! We visited family on the other side of the country in January, we had a week over there and the family organised a day to celebrate a late Christmas together so some of the family members we only got to see for that one day and it just didn’t feel like it was long enough! We are hoping to go back this year and make it a bit more of a stay, two weeks maybe...

One day is almost nothing! You must try to get together for a longer time.

It is wonderful to be able to keep our friends from our youth. I always tell Monica that she is my diary. She is the only person I shared things with when I was a teenager.

Yeah! My best friend works abroad. It was way way back when we really had hang out together. He visits every year but too many to visit and so little time to meet them all. So we just had to settle for coffee or dinner. hehehe... I too once dropped by at Singapore (that is where they live now), but it was just a stop over. So we just went for dinner and hang out for a while in the evening. It was great though because that was my birthday. I had the chance to celebrate it with them.

it's good that you have maximized your time together.apparently you have missed each other a lot. i remember my best friend. she's of the country too and we only connect in facebook. I miss my friend. She was the only one I had. The only person I could talk to. We split up over a stupid thing, but I wasn't going to take the blame when it wasn't my fault. So now I haven't a friend and think maybe I should have caved in yet again.thanks goodness that we're okay now.

I think that I have had a thousand fights with Monica since I know her. Thinking about it, she has been my friend for well over 50 years. But we make up. After some time passes, both parties can see how stupid was to fight. Why don´t you try to get in touch with her? You don´t have to ask her to forgive you if you feel it was not your fault. But you can say you miss her. That´s enough.

I have a friend who is from another country and is more like a brother to me. He married a woman from our place and so he comes to visit once every one to three years. When he comes we usually spend the whole day together, including other friends of ours from here too. We eat, watch football games, go to picnic and just chat about a lot of things. He is really a good person and it makes me happy to see and spend time with him. I think that is how you also feel.

Yes. There is so much to share with a real friend. Even the silences are important.

I am so happy you got to spend time with your friend. That is really great since you are both so far away from each other. I have a friend who moved to another state, and it is difficult to get together when she comes because she has many family members.

Wow, that is good. In fact a friend of mine who lives in Chicago USA just returned from a month in Bali last Friday. We went to several places just for the memory it presented to our time before she lives in USA. She wants to eat only Indonesian food while in Bali, cause she cannot find them in USA. Sometimes she cook Indonesian food for her husband, but often she could find the ingredients there.

good for you for seeing your friend again. i had a friend too, whom i didn't see for like 12 years. he left for the US when we were 13 and we saw each other again when we were already 25. we were very close when we were young. we email each other often. we are still connected. he went back here for like 2 times before but we weren't able to see each other due to uncontrolled factors. but when we finally saw each other the 3rd time he went home, it made me really happy. so much catching up. he's a special friend.
