Sir Isaac Newton & Christianity...

Well.. As I know about Sir Isaac Newton, he had a strong believe in Christianity and once said "I have a fundamental belief in the Bible as the Word of God, written by those who were inspired. I study the Bible daily." There is a story in Bible where a man with strong believe in God ask God to give him sunlight for 24 hrs as he has to do many works in whole day and God did it for him and gave light for 24 hrs. Sun was at same position for whole day and he received light to do his work.. Sir Isaac newton has discovered the gravitational force of the Earth and speed of the Earth which is around 29.80 KM/HR.. Earth rotate on it's axis and so we have Day/Night. So we can imagine, if God has to give light at a place for 24 hrs then he has to stop the rotation of the Earth and break the speed of it... And if it has been happened ever then it's not possible of any element to be present on this Earth as we also have the same speed and even Earth stop, we would have same speed.. All these things are more confusing then what Sir Isaac Newton felt when he saw a Apple coming down from tree ... Thanks...

Hi, Yes, God's works are amazing and we cannot understand his deeds with our knowledge. We need to spend more time with God and read Bible so that God speaks with us. Many times we wonder how God created the universe in 1 day when science says it took millions of years. But if we look at another aspect, may be God has created the universe as told by science. On earth 1 day is 24 hours, on moon 1 day is around 12 hours and on sun it is different. Now imagine how many hours is God's 1 day. May be God has created the universe in some million years when we calculate in our day.

I say our mind and understanding is amazing which always find a way to make our believe or make our self happy for what ever we think ... It's really complicated and beyond our imagination to have a clear image of what we can do by it (mind) ... Thanks,

yes, I agree with you. When we look at a theological or spiritual aspect, we make our own assumptions and theories. People want some power to rely on, to share their sorrows. We are always looking for a God so that we can feel relaxed and comforted. But you need a have a close relationship with God. When you experience His presence in your life, then you would have a different perspective of God in your life.

With the story about God giving light for 24 hours, you have to remember, these pieces were written before they even really knew that the sun is where we were getting our light from. Even in Genesis of the bible, it says how light and plants on earth came about, before God created the stars, the sun and the moon. That does not work. The stories from the bible are not true, they're just stories.

Well, I will give you that it is truth that there is a book that is called the Bible... and it's true that in the sequel to that book, it talked about a character named Jesus... both of those are true... but if the bible is fact, or if it's just stories... true or untrue... I would absolutely have to go with the not true.

Not all places on Earth has the same Day/Night Time Frequency. It is different if you are at the South Pole or North Pole. During winter in South Pole, it is dark for 24 hours of the day. During summer, particularly at the summer solstice, it will be light for 24 hours of the day. Newton dedicated his life on Christianity, the Holy Trinity, Book of Revelations and other Prophecies.

Well, it would be possible to experience 24 hours of sunlight and there are places in the world where this does happen, although the sun is not in the same position for the duration of the day. Instead, the sun is moving, but it doesn't set because of the time of the year that it is. The only two places that this happens are in places north of the Arctic circle and also places that are south of the Antarctic circle.

You reminded me of an article in Readers Digest that i read about 50 years ago, it said in details, why a scientist believes in god. Even now we have not been able to understand the behavior of simplest of all atoms, that is hydrogen, with just one electron and one proton.. what to speak of complex molecules, the creator is some super power, the almighty, by what ever name we call.. Thanks for this discussion Cheers. God bless you, have a nice day ahead. Professor ‘Bhuwan’. .

Hi sincere4frdship, Sir Isaac Newton was indeed a christian, but like some other Christians in every generation, it is also said that he believed in reincarnation. Many who study the Bible daily also come to the same conclusion. I thought I'd just add this little tidbit that I found interesting. Blessings.
