Yes, you deserve it! Why not! After all that you do all day long you certainly deserve the best. It’s so easy to concentrate on our shortcomings rather than applaud our positive qualities. This Valentine's Day make sure you buy yourself a treat, even if it's a small one. So, what would you going buy to celebrate yourself?

Well with the economy so bad, we can't afford to treat ourselves to much, so my favorite thing to get when going to town is the $1.00 coke at McDonald's. It is a nice treat, which I enjoy. So my treat will be a coke. What is yours going to be Mim? Hugs

Great!!! I think I might do that as well since I haven't indulged in soft drinks for a while now. Coke sounds good and sipping in the ambiance of McDonald's would be fun! I have a pair of good jeans and shoes in my list. That is a necessity more than anything else. I haven't gone for any out-of-list shopping lately, which is good since I am trying to keep myself minimal.

I hear you about keeping the spending to a minimal. A soda is a nice treat, I get the one that is the extra large one for $1.00, don't know if you have that by you. It is nice to have one now and then. Sitting by a window, sipping a soda and watching the view can be very enjoyable. Maybe meet a friend there and have a nice visit over the coke. Hugs

I even plan to have a date with myself, give myself a gift, perhaps watch a romantic movie alone. I have a BF but sometimes occasions like these don't matter to him. I do feel bad sometimes. Well there's money problems but I don't think that should stop him from making the day special. A simple kiss on the forehead or a flower plucked, growing on the sidewalks would mean the world to me. He can be worst when it comes to creativity really. I'm not sure if he knows that despite his very wonderful personality, he lacks that.

It's not about he money but about the thoughtfulness and you are right in buying yourself the best gift ever and that's 'celebrating yourself'. Nothing can beat the beautiful 'me-time' and I just wish your BF realizes that and makes you feel special. Nice talking to you after long.

Yes, I have thought about that too. I love the way he appreciates my gestures for him. But sometimes, I never see it being returned my way. So I just respect him to do it on his own terms. However, your suggestion is quite sound for this upcoming Valentines. Thanks moi. @mimpi: i really should do something for myself, yes. Besides, I don't expect a date on that day anyway. I know I have been gone for long. I just didn't know some people actually noticed. Thanks mimpi.

Theresaaiza, I just had an idea... why don't you do something like that for your boyfriend - the simple kiss on the forehead, or whatever would make the day special for him. Just to show him that you can really make the day special even without spending much. That way, when he sees that it can be done, maybe he'll think differently about it next time. =) Good luck! =)

Hi Mimpi, Buy something for myself this Valentine'sDay? No, I don't think so, I've had enough of that last Christmas season. Hubby works in another country, so I can't have a romantic date either. But I have plan, and I'm excited about it: I'm gonna treat my kids to a concert by a foreign artist and have a dinner date afterwards. Now I think it's gonna be a fun Valentine's Day .

So true! Let them have they choice - bothways you will be lucky. I, myself, haven't been around here for a while. Work pressure, family and some untoward stuffs - all had conspired against my free spirit!

Hi Dory! How have you been? Good to see you after long. The concert thing is a great idea and I am sure the kids going to enjoy it very much and that would be great family time as well. Do have lot of fun and enjoy to the fullest.

Hi Mimpi, Yeah, it's been a while. It was a long "hiatus" from myLot, but now I realized I miss the action here, so I'm back. The kids are excited about the concert, but they want to watch Justin Bieber's movie as well and good dinner after. Hmmn, I guess I need to let them choose which one they really like, so expensive to have both.

I think it would be a great tradition to buy yourself a gift for Valentine's Day. After all, if we can't show love for ourselves, how can we expect to receive it from someone else?

I totally agree with you!haha actually I've done it before.I bought myself a box of chocolate the day of white Valentine's Day.And I shared it with my friends. At that time,I broke up with my boyfriend and I was somewhat upset. And there was nobody sending me flowers or chocolate or anything else on the Valentine's Day.So I thought why not buy myself a gift. After that I knew that girls have to be good to themselves.

I am planning to buy myself a new shoe this coming Valentine's day. My old one really needs to be replaced because holes are already appearing on the sides of my shoe. This is the first time that I would be buying something for myself this Valentines Day. I do hope my boyfriend whould surprise me with something this Valentine's day. A nice dinner will be superb, or a new shoe instead so I can save the money I have allocated for it.

I should buy myself flowers. Hmmm.. I am single on Valentine's Day, sadly (happily? not quite sure) and I've never really thought about buying MYSELF a gift. But that's a good idea. You don't need a boyfriend or girlfriend to get gifts on the holiday..You just need money! LOL

LOL.. Buy yourself some beautiful fresh flowers and trust me you will be happy. I am single and happily so. I will also indulge in some quality time with my parents - no one can beat this gift ever!

I think I'm going to buy myself a great dinner, or maybe even a great breakfast. I love food, and I love eating good food. I do hope that I would have the time, and the money to for it. It is indeed time to relax and treat myself after so much hardwork.

Hi mimpi, It didn't hit me then, but looking back, I really don't plan to my marriage set on valentine's day seven years ago. It the same woman ever since that has been with me through all the ups and downs of raising two kids and managing the tight budget. I should change this cheap wedding ring on my hand for an 18k gold one. Maybe there's a pair right down the jewelry store...

Aww that's sweet! Please go and get yourself the ring and trust me that would be a great gift for your wife as well. Make her feel special, which I a sure you do. Bu sometimes, we get so bogged down with job that we start to take things for granted. Appreciation works wonders! Good luck!

That's a good idea. haha. Since I would probably not get a valentines gift (I'm a guy, who gives chocolates and flowers to guys? haha), I would buy a gift for myself. Thanks for the idea. :)) Maybe I'd just go out and eat sweet stuff to feel that sweet taste of valentines. Then maybe watch a movie (not a romantic one), eat, buy a new CD, eat some more, go to a gym or something, eat again...hahaha! P.S. I so love the idea. :)

Anything that makes you feel happy and stays with you, recharges you. And get that it doesn't take much to make you happier. You seem to be a happy kind of person. Enjoy!

I don't have a boyfriend, and I'm not expecting any gifts on Valentine's day. So I think this might be a good idea! =) Some ideas would be: - to buy something for myself (but knowing me, this would probably be something I need anyway, not any extra, luxury-type stuff =P ) - to go out and try something new to eat (I have no problems eating alone, but I could also invite a friend to come with me) - ask my friend if she wants to watch a musical with me (perfect timing too, the shows are scheduled Feb 12 to Mar 6. I'm just not sure if there are still tickets available. =P )

Great! So just decide and make it happen. The Musical sounds great and so do the other options.

I could think of going on a shopping spree just for the sake of doing something different, but then I know I really will not do it. For quite sometime I have been eyeing this new restaurant that has opened up near home, that is supposed to serve some delicous and mouth watering sizzlers. Right next to that is a cake shop which has some fabulous chocolate desserts. On the way home I always say to myself, that I should give it a try, but never land up doing so. Not a bad way to spoil myself, is it ? What about you?

Why not! You must Alok! I know it feels little weird to eat out alone but it's OK if it's the sizzler or the choco cakes. You can take your nephew or father or some friend in case you find it awkward. Shopping for some necessity stuffs has been on the list for a long time now - but can't get myself to go. Just not happening. I will definitely soon.
