Hi all (Gissi here, Gabs Dog for those who do not know) Well we have Mel stopping with us and she is here for a whole week, it is great, but she did not bring Mike , Mum says he has to work Well, anyway, Mel arrived yesterday, Mum went to pick her up from the Station, I thought Mum said she was picking up my Mel, but was not sure Well today they both went out, they stayed longer then what Mum normally stayed out which I was not happy about at all, I mean I was on my own When they got back, Mel was tired and Mum certainly was, well Mel went to bed for a bit and Mum slept on the Settee, I slept with Mum on the Settee I then went under the Blanket with Mum as I wanted to curl up to Mum........then I hear this noise, someone is here, I can't see who as I am under the Blanket...... I stay quiet at first, then I hear them move............so then I started to growl just to let them know I am here and protecting Mum while she is sleeping ......... then this voice says very quietly "It's me Gissi, shush you will wake Mum up" Well I still wasn't sure so growled even more, Mum woke up and asked what I was doing, well, actually Mum I am protecting you Well next thing Mum started to laugh and said "Listen Silly it is Mel" she then lifted the Blanket of my Head so I could see Well it wasn't my Fault I could not see who it was could I They both gave me Hug which I loved, but they both called me silly Baby, which was not called for was it

You're a good dog Gissi, like my Penny, but my husband doesn't think so. This morning my husband helped our neighbor break up the ice on his driveway, so he was bundled up in extra layers of clothing. When he came in today, Penny started barking like he was a stranger and he got upset and started growling back at her and chasing her. So I had to save Penny because he was really scaring her and I told him he was wrong.. So even if Penny won't actually attack, I know she will alert me to anything not right..:)

Gissi, you should ask your Mum to cut eye holes in the blanket so you can see who's coming. That way you could keep warm and watch for bad guys/protect Mum. I bet it's great seeing Mel, even if Mike couldn't be there. Have fun with your guest and be sure to keep them entertained.

Widget D.Weewok - This my puppy. He is a bit bigger now. He is a Brussels Griffon Pug cross. the most rambunctious ,sweet guy ever.He saved my heart after I lost my Ashlee.
Gissi I am proud of you protecting your Mum so well darlin, So no your not a silly baby . My Widget is starting to get pretty protective of me , We have a puppy who isn't much younger but is a different breed (MiMi) and she likes to bite sometimes (kids played with her rough). When she is like that with mama Widgie doesn't like it and knocks her away from me.

Hi Gissi, I bet you enjoy having Mel there even though Mike was not able to come over. I'm glad that you are protecting Mum though because she sure needs you. I guess Mel just wanted to curl up under the blanket too, I guess you and Mel will just have to work out a signal of some kind so you will know who it is. After all you are the guard dog. Blessings to all three of you.

You are a good guard dog, Gissi, but you are going to have to figure out what to do about the blanket getting in your eyes. When they call you a silly Baby it is just one way of saying that they love you. I am glad that Mel can visit with you and MuM.

Well Gissi, next time just poke your head out of the covers just a bit so you can see who you are about to growl at. All in all you were right, it's best to be safe than sorry. That's the way I look at it. Ozzie does the same thing, even if he knows it's his Uncle Ricky. Ricky thinks he is fussing because he don't know who is is. But I think he is just talking to him or when he is fussing at him it's because he woke him up by coming in late. lol Enjoy your week with Mel because it will fly by and she will be gone.

well when we first moved here, your girl here coco, would wake me up every morning at 2am when her brother, my son was getting ready for work. she took a long time and a lot of, "shut up, its JR. getting off to work"from me to get used to the idea that its a regular thing. now she never wakes me. also, she loves getting under the covers to get warm next to me when its cold out. you 2 are a lot alike. anyway, coco is not typing today, as she is mad with me for not letting her bark at the neighbors in the back yard a while ago since jr. was trying to sleep. he sleeps during the day some. and she thinks she has to always let us know someone is out next door even though theres a big wall. she cant seem to understand they are not coming over here. and shes a guard dog also. but when someone strange and new comes in the house, she growls and barks, but also hides under me.
