A girl was mercilessly whipped to death at a remote village in Bangladesh. According
to local newspaper report, the girl was accused of having illicit relationship with a married man who was her cousin. A local arbitration led by a local government members and a Imam(Muslim clurgy man) awarded a punishment of 100 lashes against the girl. The victim succumbed to her injuries. But the man was given less punishment.

Hi bhanu, why are you surprised at this? such a thing happens regularly in all muslim countries in fact far worse has happened recently in Afghanistan where the Taliban cut of the nose, ears and 2 finger tips of a young girl who allegedly had an affair with a married man and the man went scot free because it was the womans fault !

Hi kiran,
this kind of incidents mostly happens in the Muslims countries.
But in India more cruel incidents are happening. We read in the newspapers higher casts boys or girls are not allowed to marry lower cast boys or girls. If it is happened both the boy and girl are killed. The cast system of Hindus are brutal. Indian history and culture are very rich no doubt. But the cast system is a black shadow over the Indian civilization.

I agree bhanu, I was just speaking about that particular kind of incident. We have many such or even worse incidents happening in India, especially where women are concerned. There is a lot of injustice and cruelty meted out to women both in the cities and in the rural areas in the name of caste and tradition..
