Right now Im not very happy Camper, I'm extremely upset. First I didn't know if we were allow to have Dogs or not. The People in the same building as me didn't have a Problem with it either. I assume everything was okay.
Well one day Boyfriend came from downstairs and the maintenance man Saw the dog and he said your not allow to have Dogs here but, HE said I wont say anything.
Come to find out we got a letter in mail or @ our door. Says that we have to get rid of the Dog ASAP and the management will inspect to make sure that we have the dog Out. If not we Break our lease and have to Go.
I don't know what to do.. STRESS OUT!!

If you have a lease and it is not clearly listed that pets/dogs are not allowed then they can not evict you on that ground. However, if your lease says you can't then you have no choice but to abide by the rule.
Check your lease as you may be able to fight back. However, this will not cause them to try and find another reason. Best of luck as I see from your responses you care about your dog.

Hey Hardworkinggurl, I really do care about my Dog a lot a lot. It will break my heart to see him sad and alone. Plus he is attached and cry if we go to work.
I dont recall the leasing lady or the template saying no Dogs allow. They are always trying to start problems or try to keep our security deposit Right now IM very sad and upset, just stressing out.

I did sense that upon reading some of your comments before I placed my response so more the reason to check the lease. If you do not have a copy of it request one and it is your right to get that copy from them. If it is not listed on there you leave your dog right where he is at as no court will evict if they did not stipulate in advance.
I so wish you luck and I do see how much you care for your dog.

If that is a picture of your puppy. He is cute. I got a kitten and was told I needed to move. So I did. I wasn't going to get rid of my family. If your pet is no trouble they should let you pay a pet deposit and keep it. SORRY, to hear about your situation.

I agree they are very rude, Im guessing he doesnt have a pet dog or cat or what ever because im sure he wouldnt want to someone to kick his pet out. Im assuming he doesnt because if he did im sure he would of been more understanding. if he does then i guess he doesnt have a heart and wouldnt mind someone telling him to kick his pet out

Good luck, with house hunting. Find a nice yard for your dog to run around in. We have a huge yard for our babies. They absolutely love it. I would have to agree with you the management is very inconsiderate and down right rude. I can be they probably have a pet of their own.

You always need to check with management before getting a dog. I think your choice is pretty clear, either you find an apartment that allows dogs, and everyone moves or you find someone who is willing to adopt your dog.

Yeah I understand But it never said anything about having a Dog not only that but there are people in this Complex that have dogs and mines is a very small dog most of them have Big Dogs. I just think they want my Security Deposit They do that when are lease is almost up or its time to renew it. Its not fair and just Wrong.

It is always better to ask first. If others have dogs you probably have an argument there about getting to keep yours. Many places here you pay extra money for any pet and it is not a deposit but an extra fee, like $100 per month. I had a renter at one time who deliberately waited until I went on a vacation and got a dog, without asking. No, it was not in the rental agreement either way. I actually bought the house while she was in it, and the other owners had previously told her she could not have a dog, there was not a fence, for one thing. I made her get rid of the dog because she was neglecting it, and tying it up in the yard. She did not pick up after it. I tend to side with the people who manage the apartment. I do understand that you love the dog.

I understand but right now we are going back and forth with calls argument is going on and since that is going an agreement as to be made. Are dog is not even noticeable. He has been with us for months and no worries no neighborhood isnt getting upset or anything they are fine and probably never notice that we even had a Dog.
Overall to me an Agreement as to be made. Since there are people in here with Dogs and there dogs are big. Mines is consider to be in the teddy Bear Category. Right Now because we are putting up an understandable Fight then. Hopefully they will come with an Reasonable agreement.
They also said you cant have Dogs because if they do damages then that will come off your security Deposit. We said we know its our security Deposit.

Hi Payout,
Actually, it is not a good idea to get a dog without the landlords approval any more than it would be to let another person live with you that isn't on the lease. I have a friend that is a landlord and he is not opposed to dogs living in his apts but he is very firm on meeting the dog before agreeing to it and there are rules for the dogs just as there are the people. Also certain dogs such as pitbulls, rotties, etc are ones that would cause the landlords insurance to go up considerably and so a lot of landlords won't allow them. You said that they said if the dog didn't go then you'd be breaking the lease. In another statement you said you never got a copy of the lease and you said they do this every year. I think you have to really push for a copy of that lease so that you have the rules in writing. Send the landlord a certified letter demanding a copy of the lease. Make a list of all the other tenents that have dogs. Make sure you keep a paper trail of all your correspondense...dates, times, copies of letters, record of phone calls etc. Good luck on this!

Hey sid, thanks for the advice I will do that and see if everything works but my landlord didn't care how big the dog was and my dog is very little and no bigger then a open phonebook. but he didn't care and just wanted get the Dog out of there and said he didn't care what so ever. So I wasn happy and I just want to get out of there ASAP. Im so unhappy that Im will to just break the lease with them and i know im going to lose my Security deposit but its worth getting my dog Back. ASAP. Like I said may God have mercy on that Man for being so mean. Never will I recommend that place.

I can tell where you got in trouble, never, ever assume anything, read your contracts. It will save you a world of grief in all phases of your life. lNow your only choice is to find a new home for your dog, or move. Whatever happens you are not going to be happy about it. Such are life's lessons and having learned many of these, like you the hard way you have my blessings.

Hey Savypat, We did look the Apartment but I think they never gave us our contract and never got it and the leasing lady always forgets. I dont care Im not goingto give my dog away without a Fight. I have every right to be upset. since there are Dogs in some buildings and people dont say anything. The workers do.

I'm surprised that they didn't have an open pet policy. They should have made it known up front if there were no pets allowed. Most places require a pet deposit but allow them. It's usually on the lease if they do or do not allow pets. I guess I would start looking for a place to live if you want to keep your dog!

That is what Im going to do I was going to do that in the beginning. I already knew a few people that wanted to get a Apartment where Im at. But I turn them down and told them all the situations that I ran into. So yeah I wont recommend anyone from those apartments since the management is not considerate.

All you can do is give them some negative publicity. Not like running them down, but making sure other people don't get burned by them!
