Google Chrome

OK...I need some advice from those among us who are more computer literate than I am. I just created a gmail account for myself today, and I saw a thing on there that said I could get email alerts and other useful things with my gmail account if I downloaded Google CHROME as my default browser. I am currently using FIREFOX, and I was wondering if there is anyone out there who has used both of them who can advise me on this issue. I like firefox, but I have heard that CHROME is a good browser as well. Are there any ways that CHROME is better that firefox? How do these programs compare to each other? Any advice will be greatly appreciated...

They're desk top alerts which you can find under your gmail settings and you do have to have Chrome for that. Chrome does not work on my computer but I've used it on others and can't say I'm impressed at all. Yeah it moves very fast the first few days but then it slows down. I mean really slows down. You can use extensions just like with FF but they are very ineffective. I feel a lot more secure with FF any way. That's my opinion though. I'd recommend giving Chrome a try. You may end up liking it.

From what I have read in some of these responses, I don't really think Chrome is going to work for me. I am really satisfied with Firefox, but I was just curious about the alerts and stuff that I could use with my g-mail account, but I don't think a couple of alerts are going to be worth the hassle of downloading it and setting it all up...

Hi goldeneagle, I'm currently using Cometbird as my browser and I removed Firefox and Chrome because for me, Cometbird is faster and more user-friendly. It really depends on which is better for you so just take your time and try each one then choose which is better :-)

There were some issues with Chrome but I expect that has been sorted now. I use Firefox but have also used Chrome which seems to work ok. Frankly, I use any program that works the isn't Microsoft. If you keep away from MS as much as possible you get less viruses.

I actually use internet explorer as my primary browser and I use firefox as my backup. I've heard of Chrome before but I don't personally know of anyone that uses it and that is the reason that I haven't put it on my computer yet. I really like to hear reviews from other people before I change things on my computer. From what I do understand, it doesn't leave you as open to viruses as the other browsers, but even that I'm not one hundred percent sure about.

Chrome is faster than Firefox in my opinion. I've used both and I find Firefox more user-friendly than Chrome although it really depends on the user. I suggest you just download Chrome and try it for yourself. It's free anyway so what's keeping you? You can always uninstall it anytime anyway.

I use Firefox mostly but will use Chrome for my backup. Internet Explorer is my last resort as it is prone to viruses and crashes. One issue that I noticed with Chrome is that at least on my computer, it does not work well with Roboform. I was surfing last night and the Roboform plug-in crashed at almost every other site. I will not be using it as much then because I use it to fill out forms and do offers. I prefer firefox for its user friendliness.

i had firefox before but it was very sloooow, so i tried chrome. at first, crashes were frequent and it didn't carry the easy features i liked about firefox. but when the crashes were much lesser and i noticed that it was a bit faster than firefox then i stayed on it.

I use Chrome, and the one thing I can say is that it crashes far less often. Don't know anything about e-mail alerts, etc.
