India

Now all my family members are here, my daughter too has come with her son and daughter. So there are now 4 grandaughters, the eldest is Payal, 18 years young, studying computer science, and youngest is Subhee. Also 3 grandsons, Bigul is 16, and youngest are the twins, Aaasu and Nissu. Today Payal presided over a meeting of the 'grandkids' here. It was resolved that they will observe 'Grandparents', day every 7th of December, our MARRIAGE ANNIVERSARY DAY Hubby has agreed to it, he will give them 1000 rupees each, which they may save or spend. I know, none will spend all, but save maximum possible. Do your kids, grandkids observe any such? When given cash gift, how they spend? Comment on this discussion too. Thanks kalyani

Wow It's great that your grandchildren will celebrate grandparent's day on your anniversary. Don't have grandchildren that I know of yet... But I used to save half and spend half immediately... but I always end up spending it before I save enough to buy what I really want!

I really wish that my daughter knew how to save money. This past year for her birthday and for Christmas was the first time in her life that she really saved money and her reason for saving money wasn't for the future, it instead, was because of the fact that she wanted a Nintendo DS and I told her that I didn't have the money to get one for her so she was going to have to save her own money so that she would be able to have one of them.

Youre a closely knitted family I supposed. We call that reunions here in our place. I too have lots of grandaughters and great grandaughters, the numbers I got lost alsready. I like and love kids and you can see their respect and love for us also. How I wish I can also be a kid like them.

I have heard of "grandparent's day" but we have not really ever observed it formally. We do mother's day and father's day though. I am a grandparent now, so maybe we should add grandparent's day in to the mix!

hello kal, grandparent's day is not probably as popular like mother's day and father's day. but we have made october 24 as grandparent's day. it is my mom's birthday and she will soon be 80 years old. last year it was something simple like each sibling bringing their own cooking and all grandchildren were there in her house. they brought her gifts like cloth slippers (so that her feet will not hurt or get cold in the cement floor), also a shawl, a pair of reading glasses, and several pocket books because she enjoys reading a lot. another granddaughter gave her seeds to plant in her vegetable garden. all in all, it was a fun day and we know she felt loved and happy. have a nice day. ann

We have not celebrated our wedding day at any time .But we visit temple and do puja.On other occasion when we present cash to our grand children they simply handover the cover containing cash to their mother or father. It is upto the parents to deal with the cash as they like. They mostly buy some cloths or some toys if they are very young....

I'm happy that you spent a nice day with your family. My family don't observe a Grandparent's day but during my grandparents' birthdays, New Years and other major holidays then it is like grandparents' day with the whole family gathered at my grandparents' house where we cook together and my mother and other aunts give my grandparents some money. Happy mylotting.

I don't have grand kids yet my kids are still small. However, we do have a Grandparent's day here but we treat the Grandparents to gifts or a meal or ? They don't give the kids any gifts, it's a minimal amount if even for the holidays.
