Butter sculpture turns into playdough sculpture.

This could be Tibet crafts part 2. They had a little craft class for kids to demonstrate and help children learn the butter sculpture that they do. But butter can melt and be very frustrating to work with, so they had us use play dough. Now, many adults who showed up were like me. "I'm a big kid, can I do it, too?" So two tables of 8 children and 1 table of 8 adults. We learned how to make flower petals. You make them very, very thin. It took me forever and lots of playdough to get mine to look anywhere near like theirs. Then trying to make every petal the same size, you have to have the same sized pinch of playdough to start. Then you layer the petals on each other. The Llama did it very easily and made it look easy. Eventualy, I did get it. But that was fun and nice of them to show us how to make the flowers.

Working with play dough sounds like working with icing. I did a cake decorating course years ago and had a fabulous time making really lovely flowers out of icing.

There was a professional cake decorator down the table from me who said the same thing! she thought this would add to her repitoire of flowers. Thanks and take care.

that sounds cool, and next you go with polymer clay and cook them!

That's what I was thinking. If I get good enough at it. Thanks and take care.

I enjoy sculpting flowers from clay and modeling doughs that I have recipes for. I cannot imagine it with butter, though. I would melt it all over the place in the process. i can see why they let you use playdoh instead.

Someone said that in the higher altitudes of Tibet, it would probably stay longer.

That is soooo cool! I bet it was fun! My grandaughter would have loved that class...she loves play dough too! About a month ago she came over and we used gum drops to form flowers and leaves to decorate cupcakes we made. That was fun too!
