Wow I read this yesterday some man in Atlanta Georgia, I'm guessing decided to buy an iPad and went to Walmart and when he went home he Realize the iPad was fake. Walmart gave him the sample iPad. Which is basically a Screen and small Memory of Pictures and clips.
What got me surprise was when Walmart offers the man NO REFUND
. So now he cant get his money back. Which is insane. I didnt want to give him the refund they Deflecting blame him for the error on the iPad.
WOW.. is all i have to say. To Be Honest I think I would contact higher Power to fix this situation because the iPad cost a Range of $500-$830 a lot of money. and I would be very very (Cut that) Extremely UPSET!

WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN A SITUATION LIKE THIS? or SOMETHING SIMILAR? [/b]

I'm almost certain there must be more to the story than meets the eye. You don't give any source for the story, so it's not really possible to comment. All I would say is: DON'T believe every story you read on the Internet (or anywhere else).
If this had really happened to me and I had genuinely paid for what I understood to be a genuine iPad, I would certainly take it to a higher authority and I would EXPECT Walmart to make full restitution, provided that my money was good and my motives honest. It certainly wouldn't merit a news story and I'm sure that Walmart would not want it to become one.

Hello Owl,
Well I thought the discussion I wrote was enough detail to get straight to the point. Even in the story there wasn't much detail other then It was a fake iPad and walmart didnt want to give the man his refund. Im not sure what more you want.. I cant give you a description of the man or an location of the Walmart.
maybe your right but some companies just dont have good managers or good leadership. To me in the it was going to be said eventually with technology of today news would of continue to travel. If with Email, Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, and etc. The person this happen to would of said something I know I would because if action doesnt want to taken then you have the power to not recommend and give that store a bad Reputation.

It has been my experience that Wal Mart will not give a cash refund for electronics items, only an even exchange. It has also been my experience that they may not have the product in stock and he is having to wait. That could very well be why they sold him the demonstration model, which was not complete. We do make a big deal about all the things that Wal Mart does or does not do.

Hey GardenGerty,
Wow I didnt know that.. thanks that can save me a lot of time in the future. :) I knew tht most places dont take back video games that have been open.
You do have a point there because usually when Apple is coming out with a new product they slow or just stop sending the product that has plans on being updated. Thats whats going on with the MacBook Pro at Bestbuy. That could of happen. If that man knew that a new iPad 2 is coming out soon im sure he wont buy it..
To me I dont really worry about Walmart doesnt really bother me but what got my attention was the FAKE iPad. It had to be a mistake. but I was told and read that the display feels and has the same hardware like a real ipad but just doesnt have all the good technology inside..

District or regional manager should fix it for him. It sounds as if the employees there are not well versed. It often happens with a return to the electronics department or other customer service problems. I bought my new laptop at Wal Mart, Two signs on the shelf indicated it was on sale. I bought the last one they had. The bar codes for the shelf were for a red one, and for a pink one. All they had in stock was a blue one. It rang up at more than $100 higher price. The electronics person had to call the CSR from upfront. She did not want to give it to me at the lower price, but the electronics employees insisted that they had to give it to me at the price on the shelf. Lucky they did, as I would have walked out. I had already walked out of another store because they did not have any laptops in stock in my price range. Of course, they do have a policy about not giving refunds on electronics that have left the store, but only giving exact exchanges. That may be the actual situation.

Hey GardenGerty,
I agree it should be the Regional Manager to handle this situation. What they should do is like you said just give him a real one not a fake one. Come on. It was probably an Employee who didnt know anything about the display and that is was fake.
I work in retail the rules are if the customer says thats the sale price then thats the sale price. If the Product has big difference then the price rang up and the what the customer is saying we will call some in the Department to find out the price and if they are right then we give it to them. Rules are Rules lol
People make mistakes and the employee made a mistake and so just give the man an exchange. He did pay for it. They think that he broke it and its just acting up

Wal-Mart is an evil corporation. I don't know why people shop there. I guess because they have low prices. We all know why they have the lowest prices. Shopping there does no one any favors. Thumbs down to Wal-Mart.

What, oh no I would not be sitting back with there quick and easy remarks.. I would take it to higher commands as well. Walmart has always been pretty descent about returns so I am amazed that they would do something like this.
I would be searching BBB, BBC you name it I would be making a stink until not only did I get my full refund but that I made aware of such bad customer service. How could they sell a demo model and put it off as the original and then expect the customer to lump it. Ugh, I feel for this person as I would be livid.
