a new topic and a few "ground rules"

Hi everyone! Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, but I have been busy finishing up a class I was taking. By the way, I got an A (95%) in it. I would have had 100% but I didn't do one small assignment. Oh well... I would like to see interaction between the people who are trying to improve their English. Try to comment on at least one other person's writing (maybe tell how it is similar to you or how you agree or disagree with them and why). I would like to see all of you have a chance to earn here. Try to get to know each other a little bit. I will probably only put a group correction out every so often rather than individual corrections because I have limited time available. The topic for today is (drum roll...) What is your goal in life? Be specific and think about the long term. Do you want to have a job or raise a family or live on the street (just kidding!)? Also give your reasons for wanting that. Don't worry about little grammatical errors. Just try to express your opinion. I will give an example. I would like to be able to help people. I don't need a lot of money, just enough to provide for a roof over my head and food to eat. If I could work a volunteer position that provided room and board, I would be very happy. Most recently, I was teaching English in China and I was given a free apartment and enough money that I could get by nicely. If my health returns, I would like to do that or something similar again. If I am not able to return to that type of work, I would like to inform people about the signs of cancer and make them aware that they know their body and if something isn't right that they should get it checked out. It could save their life!

I have three goals in life. The first is to keep my family happy and strive to support it financially till the end. I do this because it is the source of my life's meaning and inspiration despite occasions of misunderstanding and conflicting interests. I am fully happy seeing my wife wearing a smile in a day. I am more happy watching my son enjoy playing with his playmates while doing well in school as well. The second is to make writing as a passion and make money out of it too. I like this because, at 47, I want to be one of the best in this craft. I made this decision only after I joined myLot; it helped me realize writing is wonderful. I draw some positive feeling every time I imagined myself to have produced high quality write ups and people start to appreciate them. This is one vision that I intend to accomplish before I die. Although English isn't my native language, I believe it could be mastered through constant practice - practice makes perfect, they say. The third and last is to be able to explore the other dimension (by opening the so called third eye) and develop healing ability. I am presently involved in TETADA KALIMASADA( I cannot elaborate it here)and I have experienced some good signs while practicing it. Being a beginner, I have a long long way to go but I feel good about it.

I plan to go full swing (in other sites)this coming April when favorable signs are evident. At the moment, I'm piling up contacts and closely monitoring the predominant skills needed by the employers online and be conversant with them. Good day.

Thank you for the comment. For now, I have a list of sites but haven't engaged in any writing project yet as I need to create an attractive cover letter, profile and some writing samples. The writing part is one that I am resolved to achieve - to be one of the best in it. I know fully well I'm nowhere near the goal but I am determined. Good day.

My goal in life is "to show people how they can choose to be better by making the lives of their neighbors better." I can't be specific about the long-term (in case God gives me new orders that might conflict with long-term plans), but right now that means learning how to let prosperity into my life.

So how can you do that? What kinds of things can you do to show people how to do that? You can talk in the short term if it is easier. Have a great day!

How can I 'learn to let prosperity into my life so I can make the lives of my neighbors better' (I'm kinda modeling the method there, as there are THREE things I'm 'learning to do' ... the one I don't mention there is the one about 'me'). I just set the lesson on the 'Three Pillars of Buddhism: Study, Meditation, & Practice'---I read how others are gaining prosperity & healing the world, I think about how to link that with whatever I am now, and I DO IT!

Well, this may sound redundant but what I want to do is retire at 35, but when I say "retire" it means "retiring" from having to think of "money", in that sense where it's no longer man at work but system at work - money making money so that I can do what I've always wanted to do, to help those who are close to my heart, those whom I love very dearly & also to give back to community, like build affordable houses for those who are in the lower income group ( not charity though as people most of the times might take things for granted ). Any many other more things along this line

zweeb82, That sounds like a very noble goal. I also would like to not have to worry about money, but I am not able to do it by 35 since I am already over 50. Are you anywhere close to being able to do that? Have a great week!

I would like to always convince myself I'm already almost there? Haha!~Well, it's not just all talk as that'll get me nowhere, as a matter of fact that won't get anyone anywhere, haha~! Requires an action plan & a daily implementation of what has been jot down so I strive everyday to make the unseen more visible for time & tide wait for no man

That is so neat that you are helping people improve their English. You are such a good person.I hope you get rid of that cancer real fast.Cancer is a scary situation. That's cool that you want to give people advice on getting checked out if they don't feel right.

Thanks for the comments. Cancer can be very scary if you don't respect it. I know that the situation in my case is less the cancer and more the fact that all of my internal organs (intestines, colon, bladder) are all stuck together. This could have been caused by the cancer, but that is not certain. I hope that other people don't have to go through what I have been experiencing. That is a big reason to share. Have a great day!

I would like to live a simple life. After I graduated from college,I will find a job first.I will try my best in this career to esrn a living. No matter how bad the job is,I think it is a accumulation of experience. Then, i would prefer to rent a house and start living by myself.Beacuse I had my owm job, i didn' want to feel like a burden for them.I was old enough to stand on my own feet. It's time to pay back their love and care.Afer all, I hope I can get married with a woman I loved. We'll love and respect each other forever. Sharing every happiness and sarrow, we can be dependent on in our hearts. We'll show filial obedience to pur parents. I firmly believe we can have a happy life!

Lucifa, Thanks for sharing this. It sounds like you know what you want from life. Just out of curiosity, what are you studying in college? What kind of job would you like when you get out? It is good to live on your own to gain your independence, but don't be afraid to visit and help your parents as well. I hope that you are able to accomplish all your goals! Have a great weekend!

I am an English major student.I prefer to be an English translator or an English teacher in the future.I think most English learners choose like that.

I began a new lifestyle after I had been a volunteer English teacher in 2006. Now I have been giving a free online English course to a group of people from all parts of China. I have a verbal agreement with them. If they think they could learn something from me, they would convey such an effort or feeling to others. I am also an amateur English trainer, having 9 lessons a week in my spare time, so I have limited time available. Personally, I don't need a lot of money, either, but I am the head of a family and should at least earn enough money to make ends meet. Keeping a balance between work and my high ideals require me to show trust, patience and diligency all the time. Glad to read the post and nice to meet you. Thank you for your volunteer work for Chinese!
