You can't start you pay pal account with SBI but you can link your account of State Bank of India with your paypal to transfer your amount from there to your SBI account... You will have to verify the account first and in that procedure they will send two very small account and you will have to mention that at the site after adding your account to your paypal account... Thanks...

Hi Kavya, Of course you can attach your SBI Bank account with paypal. What info you need? It is quite the same as for all other banks. Your Account Number, the Branch Code, The IFSC code for your branch, Branch Address, your Debit card Number, and your PAN Card number. You will have to ask the Branch Manager or the Authorities of the Branch for some of these. Once you have input all of these, they would send you two small amounts within 7-15 days and that you can check using the Passbook(If I remember correct, SBI still has the Passbook thing). You would need to log in to paypal and then enter the two amounts. That's done and you get verified with the Paypal Account Linked with your bank. In some cases, they may need you to provide other details like your residence Proof and ID Proof (but that happens in case there are some differences in the inputs from you and your bank and are rare.)

Yes you can link your SBI Account with your Paypal Account. I know a few people who linked their SBI account with Paypal account. There is no problem there. There are some banks in India which does not allow Paypal transfer. That is why you cannot link your paypal account. It is not Paypal's fault, it has more to do with the bank's terms and rules and largely due to the RBI rules and regulations and permission for each bank.

You have to make sure it is DEBIT card, not just ATM Card. ATM Card means you can use it only to withdraw money from ATMs, Whereas you can use a Debit card just like Credit Card as long as you have enough money in your account. Instead of putting in your card details, why not just add your bank account details. Go to Profile, Add Bank Account. After verifying your bank account, you can withdraw your Paypal balance into your bank account. There is no need to involve a card, unless you want to link your credit card for purchase.

You can open PayPal account with just you PAN number. After opening a PayPal account you have two options for verifying your account. Either by verifying your bank account or by verifying your credit/debit card. If you want to verify your account with your credit/debit card then your card must have Visa/MasterCard logo on it. When you enter your card details on PayPal's website then your card is charged $1 and you will receive a four digit code in the transaction details in your account statement. However bear in mind that not every card will work with PayPal and even if it work there is no guarantee that the four digit verification code will appear in your account statement. My friend and many others tried with PNB(don't know of other banks) debit card. Although they were charged the money but no code appeared in their account statement as PNB uses a third party for processing credit/debit card transactions. You may also try verifying your PayPal account by verifying your bank account. You will need IFSC (Indian Financial System Code) code of your bank branch. Which you can get either by contacting your bank branch or by searching online. When you will enter your banking details PayPal will make two small payments to your bank account. Then you will have to enter the amount of the two payments made by PayPal to verify your account. If you just want to verify your PayPal account then you should verify it by verifying your bank account to avoid problems. However you will not be able to make payments using your bank account as this facility is not available with Indian banking system. Feel free to ask for further clarification on any topic. Thanks,

Please note that paypal does not support the Maestro cards that are issued by SBI, so if you have Maestro card then you can apply for visa or master card at your bank branch. They will charge you one time charge of Rs.200-250 to issue a new card will block old card. You can use any visa/master card with your paypal account for validation / payment purpose. It does not matter which bank has issued the card, but you need to make sure that you do not sign up for "Verified by visa" for visa debit card or "3D secure service" for master card before using it on paypal because paypal currently do not support those methods.

It is not possible if you have SBI Maestro card, PayPal will only accept VISA / Master card. So, first you need to check which card you have, If you don't have SBI's VISA debit card then you can contact the bank and ask for one, otherwise its not possible with maestro card.
